- Reviewed in Canada on July 19, 2021Verified PurchaseI rarely give 5 stars to products. Generally only when the manufacturers go out of their way to make an exceptional product. I was unimpressed to say the least with the more recent low-end MIDI controllers from AKAI. For example MPK 25 MINI Black Edition keyboard is very cheaply made. Knobs are cheap plastic, very loose, the keys are so widely spaced that you can see the green PCB board underneath. It came with ridiculously counterintuitive, difficult to operate software. Took me hours to program pads and even then I couldn't accomplish what I set out to do. Plus awful practically nonexistent customer service where it takes them a month to respond and even then it's broken English. So I was very wary of buying this MIDI MIX controller. I own an older APC 40 by AKAI, and that one is superbly made. Problem is - it's HUGE, heavy and very bulky, won't even fit most backpacks. And needs a bulky power adapter. A little counterintuitive to use, although the range of its capabilities is truly impressive. I needed a much smaller Drum Machine controller for busking and LIVE performances, something I could throw in my backpack alongside my laptop and speakers.
Pros: Very well made knobs. Both sliders and knobs feel very high-end, nice and tight, which is ideal for sample switching. Light and small. Plug and play, no need for adapter, works with just the USB cord. Very easy to MIDI learn program any way you want.
Cons: Has some connectivity issues. one of the 3 drivers it needed had difficulty installing on my older Windows 7 and my newer Windows 10 machine. "USB device not successfully installed" message although it does show up in my NI Reaktor DAW. I can't get its LEDs to work. I realise that ring lights around knobs is too much to ask for considering it's USB powered, but I really wish the button lights worked, at least. It would also be nice if the knobs were just a tiny bit taller, and so easier to operate and if it had a more rectangular shape rather than a square. Or had a MIDI connection for other hardware capability. But I do realise that for a $108 device AKAI has done a rather impressive job

- Reviewed in Canada on April 16, 2024Verified PurchaseKnobs and faders are famously shallow, but as it was build for portability this shouldn't be a surprise. Plastic build seems pleasantly sturdy. No flex, and controls feel good. I'm currently waiting on some cheap knobs I bought to give some extra depth, but I have been twiddling the unit as-is for a few weeks and even my plump fingertips can grasp the factory knobs.
One big disappointment is that there is no option in the Akai software to alter the behavior of the buttons to act as toggles. Without some 3rd party script, they are momentary switches only. Therefore you cannot assign them to toggle on/off a switch in whatever plugin you are assigning button control to. They will send an 'on' message when you press the button down, and an 'off' message when you release the button.
The preferred behavior would be to send an 'on' message the first time you press and release the button. Then an 'off' message the next time you press the button.
(Note: this describes normal behavior controlling 3rd part plugins/virtual instruments: The buttons probably act as toggle switches when using the MIDIMIX as intended to control the Record Arm, Mute, and Solo functions of your DAW's mixer)
Overall, very nice value for money
- Reviewed in Canada on August 30, 2021Verified PurchaseDoes what it says : it’s a midi controler. Very little delay that is so small that I would not be scare to use this device for live performance. The Led doesn’t lights up with the Daw I use, it is Logic pro, but it really doesn’t bother me. So if you want to do automation with you daw, or that you just want to have full control of your different plugs-ins, or whatever you want to do with you Daw, this device will help you with it.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 29, 2017Verified PurchaseReally good product, Plug&play mapping but you can also customise the mapping. It makes easier the performance.
- Reviewed in Canada on February 24, 2024Verified PurchaseWell made, a lot of keys, really promising. But its suppose to be MIDI, its suppose to be addressable, its suppose to follow a protocol. The app is not very helpful. I use one found in a forum that has been written by a programmer and is working better. Still it is difficult to have all the keys do what you intend them to do and you end up wasting a lot of time programming in place of using the console. Though they could have made a better app to pack with the console, it is not entirely Akai's fault. MIDI "so called" standard is agonizing since ever. Every company thinks they have a better way in rerouting things and reusing codes and we end up with the play button doing anything but activate transport. MIDI compatible means nothing anymore.
- Reviewed in Canada on August 15, 2021Verified PurchaseI got this to see if it would work with D-Pro for controlling our studio lights. It works great! Set up each row as R/G/B on the knobs, dim on the fader and used the various buttons for different cues. Works great!
- Reviewed in Canada on October 23, 2023Verified PurchaseThe feel of the mixer is alright, the knobs are a bit small but effective for quick use. My main concern is with the way it was shipped, the item came as is in its box. The box for the item shouldn't really be the thing an electronic is shipped in, especially considering any damage to the box would directly go to the item itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Muitas possibilidades!
Produto recomendado!

5.0 out of 5 stars Très bon produit

Cliente AmazonReviewed in Spain on April 24, 2024
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfecto para mis necesidades
