- Reviewed in Canada on June 24, 2021Verified PurchaseMy big beef with most level 1 chargers is that they draw 16A and have a 20A plug, but most household circuits are only15A.
When you find yourself somewhere needing to plug in, 15A receptacles are everywhere, so an 8A charger is perfect for topping off.
I ordered this unit with an adapter cord to allow its 20A plug to use a 15A receptacle, or you can easily remove the 20A plug it ships with and install a screw-on 15A plug to make things simpler.
This charger defaults to 8A every time it's powered up, and if you do find a 20A receptacle you just hit the button and it kicks up to 16A charging
The charging handle fits a bit tight in a level 2 receptacle, and is built a bit lighter than my original, but still plenty strong enough to do the job.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 4, 2021Verified PurchaseThe charger is fantastic quality overall. Feels very solid and plugged in just fine into my 2020 Hyundai Ioniq full electric. The cable length is quite good and feels like it will last a long time. Having a dual 8A/16A charging mode would normally prove very useful too. The price of this is significantly lower than all other chargers on Amazon but it feels incredible for what you pay for.
Flaw:
I have this connected to a newly installed 240V 20A outlet installed in my garage. The catch is that my outlet is set on a timer so that it only energizes during off peak hours. Yes, the car has features to allow off peak charging but I want to be able to not need to worry about weekends and also have the ability to manually override it when I'm in a pinch. It's far easier to take care of all that with the switch on my timer. So that being said, this will default to 8A when first plugged into an energized plug. So if I plug the car in after work before the plug is energized, I will only get 8A unless I unplug the car first, then press the button, then plug it back into the car. There is no way to force this to 16A by default. For this reason alone, I had to return it.
TLDR: If this had a way to force 16A by default when plugging in, this charger would be a home run at this price.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 6, 2023Verified PurchaseMy Outlander PHEV max charge power is 3.6 kW this little level 2 charger is perfect since my PHEV would not charge faster unless it would be a Level 3. I made an installation on 240 V and the charge time is 3 times faster then the original charger or on when using on a 120V outlet. Price was quite cheap with the the discount.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 6, 2023Verified PurchaseI have a newer EV with a locking feature for the charging port. This unit did not have that feature, which I knew when I ordered it, however, I subsequently found a similar model on the manufactureres WEB site - I wished that that had of been available on Amazon. On my car maximum chage rate is about 14.5 amps, not the 16 advertized. Nevertheless I am very pleased with the unit.

- Reviewed in Canada on April 7, 2022Verified PurchaseCharges quickly. Seems to draw 10.5 amps on my Chevy Volt.

Display is small but has all info needed.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 15, 2023Verified PurchaseVery Slow for level 1. Won't charge more than 9AMPS , my original charge up to 12A.
I bought another brand and it will charge much faster than the LEFANEV one.
Moreover the cable is less than 25FT. Too short. You can get another brand for cheaper and the cable is a real 25FT

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great! Good price.
Size: 16AVerified PurchaseI have a 2015 Nissan Leaf. I recently installed a 220 line in my garage in addition to my 110 outlet. No problems installing the charger, no problems using it. Speeds up charging time as compared with the 110. I previously had a 2013 Nissan Leaf and bought a 2nd 110 charger at that time to leave permanently in the car trunk (still in use with my 2015). At the time it cost over $800, so you can imagine how pleasantly surprised I was with this price.

5.0 out of 5 stars So far so good
Size: 16AVerified PurchaseI did test it with 240 vac at the 10 amp (green) setting and saw a 2240 watts or 2.2 kW supplied and with the 16 amp (blue) setting it supplied 3600 watts or 3.6 kW. Trying the unit, with a standard 120 vac outlet adapter, set to 10 amps (green) It supplied 1100 watts or 1.1 kW and set to 16 amps or blue it supplied 1700 watts or 1.7 kW.
Unless you have a heavy duty 20 amp 120 vac outlet you should stick to the default 10 amp setting as 16 amps will overload a standard 15 amp breaker on 120 volts.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if the unit is power cycled (unplugged and plugged in again) or you temporarily lose power the unit defaults to the 10 amp setting, which makes sense safety wise and would need to be set to 16 amps before using if desired. I don't see a way to keep it defaulted to the 16 amp setting.
This will be a great evse to use at our in laws to charge up our Leaf, I added a 240 volt 20 amp outlet, a NEMA 6-20 and can now charge there at 3.6 kW instead of the 1.2 kW from the Leaf stock evse.
Also the unit I received did have a right angle plug, with the ground down, which I prefered but the picture shows it as a straight plug.
To sum up
1 watt idle (waiting) on either 120 vac or 240 vac
120v 10a setting approx 1.1 kW
120v 16a setting approx 1.7 kW
240v 10a setting approx 2.2 kW
240v 16a setting approx 3.6 kW

4.0 out of 5 stars Stopped working after a couple months of sporadic use.
Size: 16AVerified PurchaseI only used it a couple of times since I charge at work mostly. Now when I try to plug in it just gives a fault code and never clears no matter what I try.
EDIT: Was contacted by the company and they gave me another charger. This one works and they told me to contact them again if I have any problems.
