Stitching/ fabric
2 out of 5 stars
Stitching/ fabric
Stitching is fraying in places leading to longevity concerns. Have had only a few days. Additionally small tears have appeared presumably from pine needles getting in - this wouldn’t be an issue if parachute nylon used wasn’t so thin (seems to be half of thickness of Grand Trunk brand name hammock).Mosquito netting good quality though, and I like the roominess of design. Grateful for the abundance of guy lines. Convenient but likely a disposable if using for multi-day backcountry excursions / mountaineering. You’ll definitely want to buy an under quilt re: mosquitos and be super careful about the smallest puncture from woodland foliage as will tear on you mid-trip - I’ll be purchasing repair tape and expect after a few weeks a good chunk of hammock will be covered due to pine needles.Would appreciate it if manufacturer would reach out to discuss the aforementioned deficiencies as this was definitely not the cheapest hammock I could have purchased. Quality definitely not worth the price, but functionality is. Hopefully they’ll go with a thicker material in future and better sewing because this product could potentially replace majority of my backcountry camping equipment.Update: despite numerous attempts to connect with the seller, they made no effort to respond. I’ve now missed my return window, and have no other choice but to buy reinforcement tape and fix the issues myself. This product has the potential the be the best on market, but the seller’s lack of customer service, and the fraying of the stitching makes this a “do not buy”. Be warned.

I love this hammock. I much prefer this to a tent for camping. Add an underquilt and a good sleeping bag, and you'll have everything you need to be very comfortable, even when it's cold. The tarp and hammock set up in minutes, and pack up even faster. I use a structural ridgeline (about 9.5 ft) so that I always get the right hang angle. I used one long strand of 550 paracord and looped it back and forth between carabiners to get three strands . Looping back and forth will keep the tension more even than tying the three strands together.

The bug net is strong and effective. I used a stick between the shock cords to spread the net wide for more headroom. Straps and hammock material are very strong, and the zippers operate smooth with no snags. Very good price for all that you get, and the quality of it.

Edit: I ordered a second one, but they forgot to include the tarp. Amazon said to return and reorder it, and the tarp was included this time.

I'm going into my 2nd year using this and my husband is using his for the 3rd year. They both have held up wonderfully. Holds up to 300 pounds like its nothing. I enjoy getting rocked by the wind and my husband very enjoys watching the raccoons in the top of the trees.

Came with everything included and is definitely worth it.

Very nice product I’m 6’2” 185lbs and I fit in well but pushing the height limit
The set up is very fast after the first initial set up
I highly recommend you provide your own ridge line as on first set up I had to tie three guy lines together to fly the tarp
Making a couple spreader bars for the bug net will also make the experience much more enjoyable in the hammock
The hammock arrived a day earlier then expected and everything was included and in perfect condition
I highly recommend this hammock and seller

Update: after a couple uses I have now replaced the shock cord for the bug net with 550 para cord and tied small loops of shock cord onto the loops of the bug net for the paracord to pass threw and still have flex to not rip the bug net while inside the hammock this also makes installing spreader bars (branches) a lot more secure
With these modifications it has brought this hammock to a new lvl and cost next to nothing to do so. Perhaps an upgraded version of this tent could include some of these features I have added
And yes Easthills I would be happy to test out a prototype if you ever make one
In conclusion it’s a great value for the money and I still highly recommend this product and seller

So, I purchased this a few weeks ago -- finally got around to setting it up -- and was so disappointed when I realized that the (a) x1 waterproof rainfly, (b) x4 guylines, AND (c) x4 aluminum stakes WEREN'T INCLUDED!!! I just started the return today (after opening up and setting up the hammock yesterday), so I haven't yet contacted the seller about this issue. I will be ordering another and look forward to updating my review once I have the complete set.

From what I can review, as a double hammock, it's great (i.e., can deffs fit two people comfortably). However.... for myself, I felt like there was a bit of excess material I was left "swimming in" & compared to other hammock tents I've used in the past, the mesh set up take a bit more time as you need to string the line through little holes and then attach it to the tree -- vs clip and loop systems --- BUT it *is* NO-SEE-UM PROOF!!! so that's huge!

I look forward to receiving my new complete setup and giving a more thoughtful review!

If you are used to sleeping in a tent it might take some getting used to. I went deep in the bush and it was a little scary sleeping with your back to the dark woods. I had to put a tarp around the backside to feel a little safer. we heard some growling @ night and I went and slept in my tent. I don't know what's better being able to see what's coming @ you from a few feet off the ground or not being able to see anything inside your tent? you hang there like a nice little sausage roll for a bear or wolf. lol. if something was going to eat you it might be easier to get out of a tent? I kept my bear spray with me in the little pocket inside the hammock. you would be less likely to pepper spray yourself in the hammock because you could see what's coming and spray outside the hammock. great hammock and keeps the bugs out nicely. the rain tarp is a little small but effective and strong. long straps to hang from the trees. it is recommended to get a nice sleeping pad for it as well as a top quilt and a under quilt to keep warm. a sleeping bag is a pain in the but to get in and out of. overall the hammock works great.

Revolutionized camping! My boyfriend was not head over heels about the sleeping in hammocks idea but he ended absolutely LOVING the hammock! We got two and slept in one each and we both slept like babies! Excellent quality and 100% idiot proof to put the hammocks up. Did not take us more than 2 minutes to get the hammocks and mosquito nets up. First night we put them pretty close to the ground so it would be easy to get in and out. Second night we put them higher up so you had to make a little jump to get up and I would recommend putting them a little higher! The hammock spread out a little more and didn't feel as a cocoon ;) No fabric in my face and I could easily turn without a hassle and no trouble sleeping on the side!

Another pro about the hammocks is that you are not dependent on the ground beneath you to be flat, no sticks or stones. we did not book any camp site and it was very so easy to find a spot which we would have not been able to do with a tent!

    HIGHLY RECOMMEND

5.0 out of 5 stars This is an amazing product especially for the price! Great gift for someone starting hammocking.

When i purchased this product I was honestly very skeptical about the idea of a whole hammock set for $80 when that's the price of some hammocks themselves. Boy was I very happily surprised! The quality of this gear is awesome especially for all of it you get for $80. IN this kit your getting the hammock, the suspension, and a tarp all for the price of an ENO hammock. You could basically order this and go camping and have your whole sleep kit taken care of in one little bag. The hammock itself has a built in but also removable but net that keeps out all the critters. The quality of the hammock is amazing I have even been told by a few people that it feels softer and nicer than my ENO. The suspension that comes with it is also just as good as the ENO ten footers and have the same 3 stitch daisy chain design. The tarp that comes with it comes with all the guy lines and stakes you need and is all housed in its own convenient bag. The tarp is of a light weight design but it still feels like its very durable and with keep you dry for adventures to come!

So I think that this hammock is an amazing deal and of fantastic quality that cant be beat for the money! I think this setup would be perfect for someone who wants to start hammocking but not spend a lot at first. This would also be a great option to get a child and spark a new love for the outdoors.

My first foray into hammock camping brought me to this Easthills Outdoor Jungle Explorer Double Camping Hammock. I went with this mid-priced hammock hoping for the best and I was not disappointed.

Set up was quick and easy. The daisy chain suspension system is sturdy and easy to loop around a tree. The straps minimize impact on tree bark as well. Included aluminum carabiners are light in weight and just large enough to be effective. The netting hangs from two included elastic lines.

The breathable taffeta fabric is sturdy, soft and pliable, contouring to create a slightly bowed sleep deck. I found it extremely comfortable. The stability of the hammock was remarkable, no matter the occupant’s laying, or sitting, position.

The waterproof rain tarp features several loops providing the option for various arrangements. My first night out brought a thunderstorm and subsequent downpour. Happily, the tarp was large enough to sufficiently cover the hammock and keep my pack underneath. The carabiner connection made for a suitable drip line. The entire hammock and gear stayed dry throughout.

The interior features two water-repellent hanging pockets for small gear (cellphone, snack bars) and the hanging loops, located in the four corners at the top of the netting, were essential. I ran a length of light line between them to create an unobtrusive, all-around hanger for reading glasses, penlight, and anything lightweight that I’d need access to from within.

It’s self-containing stuff sack doubles as an external hanging pocket, great for a paperback, notebook or water bottle.

The construction seems sturdy. The seams are triple-stitched. Zippers connecting the netting to the taffeta base were easy to find and operated snag-free. The tight netting keeps the interior bug-free but is airy enough to allow great visibility. It positions itself well-above the hammock creating a roomy interior. No claustrophobia.

The business card included with the new the hammock reads “We take customer satisfaction Very Seriously”. When I did have a problem, I took that claim to task, again, hoping for the best. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Easthills team was quick to respond and eager to please. Quite professional.

I’d recommend this product. Happy hanging!

1.0 out of 5 stars Falling to the ground with this one.

Disliked the fact that while on the mountain, first time using it, the hammock gave out and I was on the ground 1 am in the morning.

Ordered it back Jan 1st. Used it this past Friday 7/2. Didn’t make it through the night before I found myself falling to the ground at 1 am. There was a few reviews of it ripping so I set it up so I’d only be a couple inches off the ground. Good thing I did.

Amazon first said that the return window had long past, I wasn’t even able to use it one night so I asked them if there was anything they could do. They made an exemption and took the item back. However they charged me a restocking fee. What a joke. Thanks for selling me a crap item and half heartily standing by what you’re selling.

Side note, the rain fly held up to the wind and rain on top of the mountain. I stayed dry while under it. Throwing it all in a bag in the rain to descend down the mountain wasn’t the greatest of times.

Amazon charged me around 12 dollars for a restocking fee, which in my view should be coming from Easthills. Not the consumer. What a rubbish experience.

Was nice for the first 4 hours of the night, comfortable-ish considering it’s a hammock. I just don’t get why the bottom wouldn’t be made of a stronger material. Reinforced someway so this wouldn’t happen. I’m no where near the 600 lb weight limit so this shouldn’t be happening. Heck, where did they come up with 600 lb weight limit!

    Thank you for your time.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great value for hammock camping beginners

I've had some time to evaluate this product, and really the title says it all - the amount of value offered as opposed to what you would pay for a name brand in this space is really solid. If I had to make the purchase over again I would make the same decision. However, there are several things wrong here, some of which I don't see pointed out by other reviews. So on to some pros and cons:

    Pros:
    -Value, as above.
-Tarp sheds water well, so long as you are not contacting it(more in cons on this).
-The stuff sack that the hammock packs into hangs down next to it when hanging, providing storage for a few things.
-Removable bugnet is handy, versatile, and color coded zippers help with the at-first-perplexing task of reinstallation(take a pic of the zipper position before removal!).
-Hammock material is exceptionally comfortable, breathable and seems strong. I have not gotten anywhere near the max rated weight.
-Double sizing allows the user to fold the hammock in half to facilitate use as a regular chair or lounge chair with back support.
-Tree straps and large biners allow for quick hammock setup and adjustment
-Package provides most things needed to fully set this up and learn the variety of things needed to have a successful camping trip with this gear

    Cons:
-There is no cordage or hardware provided for tarp ridgeline or ridgeline tie-outs, which will be needed to set up. Having some paracord(or similar but less elastic) on hand to start with is necessary for full setup.
-Tarp is poorly sized to hammock. This is a big one. The tarp is pictured in the listing pitched at a 45 degree angle to the hammock, or diamond style. This gives plenty of coverage against inclement weather along the length of the tarp, however in this case it's actually too big, and the hammock cannot be strung at the right angle to get the correct sag without the tree straps interfering with the tarp (or needing to pitch the tarp excessively high which reduces coverage considerably). If the tarp is pitched parallel to the hammock(rectangle style), it can be pitched much lower and provide better/tighter coverage, however in this configuration only extends beyond each end of the hammock by 6" or less, exposing the ends to rain if it's not coming straight down. I would generally pitch rectangle style in fair and windy weather as it enables a more useful porch mode, but would need to re-pitch the tarp to the other orientation if the weather changed and add more driplines to compensate for the hammock suspension contacting the tarp.
-Tarp material is such that condensation and rain will cause some sagging in the sidewalls. This is somewhat improved once dry, but know that you will deal with some flapping in the wind etc, until you eventually replace this with a higher quality tarp.
-There is no hammock ridgeline, although one can be tied from the either side of the hammock suspension without interfering with the bugnet, which sags a bit.
-The additional material sewn into each side of the hammock, presumably to make this a double sized hammock, is poorly shaped, such that if you are using the hammock by yourself, once you get in and find your flat-lay angle, you will find it impossible to keep extra hammock fabric from hanging in your face, or in some cases, your head resting on a seam that hangs considerably tighter than the surrounding fabric, so irritating. The former may involve the weight of the bugnet and limitations of the long elastic cords it's held up with, but the main issue is the shape/orientation of the extra pieces sewn in on each side. I've remedied this with clothespins just fine, and may progress to more permanent solutions, but it's not ideal.
-The stakes are terrible. Aren't included stakes always terrible? Buy some better stakes.

In all, you will have to deal with a couple of issues that you're unlikely to be able to outrun at this price point. For now, and my current budget, I am willing. And it's still the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.

My Favorite Hammock Design, But It Tears Like A Sheet of Paper
I have researched and tried out many different types of hammock designs. This model is exactly the perfect design for me! I purchased in 2020 and used through the year on 6 different camping trips which included much rain, much cold and this hammock has been wonderful.

Used 6 times over one year, however, on the 7th camping trip, when I laid down in it to go to sleep, it tore in a straight line tear from side to side, the width of the hammock (not the length... i.e. from shoulder to shoulder, not head to foot). The product is advertised with rip-stop fabric. The tear did not occur at a seam, it was at the base of the hammock weight area. When camping, I use a sleeping air pad, and a sleeping bag beneath me, so nothing poked through in this situation!

While I have tried to communicate for warranty replacement with Easthills, because it is a few days past one year (within one year when the rip happened!), there is no replacement (though they did offer a new, different hammock in exchange for positive reviews).

Unfortunately, I just want this hammock, with these specific features. I do not want a different hammock design. I want an integrated bug net, the straps at the top which pull them away to create an open space... I love the design of this hammock and the ease of use. I have been very happy when camping with it. But I have been let down by the quality of physical materials used and what is possibly a material defect or deficiency with the fabric.

If I do get another one, I will report back whether it turns out better. I don't know that I can trust any of their other fabric without knowing that this could have been a fluke.

    Sadly missing my favorite hammock,
    - Ryan

    UPDATE !!!!!!!!!!!!
I am thrilled to say that the Easthills Outdoor company reached out to me and has sent a replacement copy of the same hammock version as the original one. While it was only the hammock which was damaged, they sent a full kit which included new rainfly and all gear, which was a very nice gesture. So far I have been out in it once and am happy to again be setting up in my favorite hammock structure.
    Thank you Easthills!
