Don't buy used
I bought this from amazon warehouse deals, and they literally didn't even turn the motherboard on to see if it worked or not. The previous owner encrypted the motherboard to prevent anyone from ever being able to use it other than themselves, and I wasted 5 hours of my time installing the motherboard to find this out and ended up talking to both MSI and amazon who both said they wouldn't do anything for me. Neither of them offered to replace it despite asking. Amazon’s customer service is getting worse for amazon warehouse deals, but when it comes to used electronics they seem to be completely incompetent. This is the 4th time in two months that amazon warehouse deals has either sent me the wrong electronics, or ones that they didn't turn on to testFor anyone wondering what the attached photo is, it's the screen that appears immediately after the bios options show up on an encrypted motherboard. On this board, literally none of the software is useable. Bios, boot menu, cmos, you name it.Edit: after MSI and Amazon were no help, I looked into it a lot more on my own. The motherboard was defective, but I was able to get it working after downgrading it to the oldest bios version available through usb flashing. I still returned it because I didn’t want a motherboard that you couldn’t upgrade the bios on, but it wasn’t encrypted. It was defective. Also, msi said they’d call me back again to help me look into it further, but they never did.I bought a replacement the day after I ordered the first one because amazon warehouse deals is so unreliable now that I was confident one of them would be broken, and I didn’t want to miss out on the sale since amazon tends not to replace things from warehouse deals.Overall, the motherboard itself is good, but the software is a nightmare. I had four software issues come up with the msi software/drivers/board that never happened when I had switched to an asus board. If there was a different motherboard equivalent at the same sales price, I would’ve gone with that. Definitely won’t ever buy MSI again, but after sinking 15 hours into trying to get two MSI boards running and finally succeeding with one, it seemed like a waste to return the second one to go back to my old board. Also, if you’ve upgraded your windows version from 7/8/10 to 11 and then replace the board/hard drive, you need to buy a new windows license now. So that’s fun

I bought this motherboard during a Prime day event and am very happy that I did. With a solid construction and a number of great enhancements. It had been some time since I updated my PC, and I felt it was time and wanted to do something for both gaming and photogrpahy.

First of all, the board is heavy and durable. Installing it was no issue whatsoever, and attaching my Ryzen CUP (with it's own fan assembly) was a piece of cake. Normally I'm very nervous installing CPUs because motherboards usually feel very delicate. This is certainly not the case here.

RAM installation (DDR4) was simple - and there are options for boosting this during O/C - but I haven't had to do this (yet).

This board comes with an integrated cooling solution for M2 SSDs - a welcome bonus considering I forgot to buy a heatsink with mine. The drive slots are relatively easy to get at - though if you are installing more in the future (you can install up to 3) you will have to remove your PCI cards temporarily.

PCIE slots are reinforced, allowing for little movement of your cards. My only issue with them is the spacing, as I wanted to install my PCIE (x1) sound card. I ended up using one of the PCIE x16 slots (as I only really need one video card).

Fast LAN, so many USB ports (Including Gen 2 USB 3.2 and USB C), and a solid Setup menu make this a treat. Definitely no regrets.

I'd like to start off by saying MSI did a lot of things right with this motherboard. Works fantastically, holds an OC better than my old x370 hero, and plays a little nicer with my memory. The Bios is fairly easy to navigate as well.

It does have some glaring issues though, namely the REQUIREMENT to download MSI Center to use certain features of the board (aftermarket software should never be necessary to use onboard features. Give us Bios RGB control or something. Anything is better than Center.) Making aftermarket software required is poor business practice, and doing so expressly for background data collection is even more so problematic. Encrypting it doesn't make it better. Gathering that data at all when the software is just supposed to control lights and maybe fan speeds is shady as hell. Admitting to it in your terms of service doesn't make it better, as you know people aren't inclined to read them.

A more minor software issue is that it came with absolutely no network drivers installed, and they weren't on the included driver installation USB (great addition, btw.) so you need to have another system available to download the drivers onto a flash drive and then update the motherboard drivers. I also had one crash that according to event viewer, was a motherboard related error, but was never able to figure it out. Hasn't crashed in several weeks since.

    Tl;Dr :

    Pros
    - Comes with included drivers on USB (awesome)
    - Very stable OC (assuming due to good power delivery)
    - Very stable memory
    - Bios testing features work well
    - Well designed Bios
    - Aesthetically pleasing
    - Easy m.2 installation (very easy top slot, reasonably easy others)
    - Subtle well diffused RGB
    - great wifi/bluetooth connectivity, no drops
    - Good onboard audio, minimal crosstalk
    - Included keychain with 1 phillips/1 flathead screwdrivers on it is amazing!

    Cons
    - NO preloaded drivers. Network drivers should be a bare minimum as Windows tries to require them for installation.
    - MSI Center is NECESSARY for certain functions of the board. Unacceptable for a board with it's own Bios and management software. Also gathers encrypted user data when running in the background, it's mentioned in TOS for MSI Center.
    - VERY long first boot (known ryzen issue, took almost 10 minutes with this mobo)
    - Two stained spots from thermal grease on mobo. Doesn't affect performance, only aesthetics. Use less leaky pads, MSI has had this issues with this for a while.
    - Product Registration. Cannot see CHK once installed. Had to remove motherboard to register product for warranty.
    - Doesn't play nice with DC fans. Has DC fan control, they turn off below 40%. Was not an issue on my previous board. PWM works fine. Be careful with water cooler pumps.

The best motherboard for the price I got for ($188) during amazon prime days. It has everything that you need. Lots of M.2, Gen4 PCIE, Wifi, Bluetooth. Ryzen 5000 series ready. No BIOS update required.
It has RGB as well but not clearly visible.
Using it with RTX 3060Ti and Ryzen 7 5700x.

For this price and the features and future proofing this is a steal at this price

The MSI MPG X570S Edge Max Wifi is a great board to close out the AM4 generation with a bang. I have coupled two of the boards to Ryzen 7, 5800g and 5800x3d processors, and have had fantastic results with both builds. At the time of writing, the board has climbed in price slightly, as I am willing to bet others are making the same combination.

Out of the box, BIOS worked for 5800g and 5800x3d, but depending on the date of manufacture, you might need to flash update to get certain new features for those CPUs.

I don't think anything I installed is on the QVL of compatible devices, and everything works flawlessly.

The only downsides in my opinion:

    1. The onboard ARGB is laughably cheap, poorly implemented, and wholly unimpressive.
    2. Software/Windows based control over ARGB and fan speeds are handled through MSI Center software,
    which is objectively terrible.

Install MSI Center, change the PCH (chipset) ARGB settings to something you like, or OFF. Uninstall MSI Center and reboot. Do it again later when some other program manages to modify them, but will not allow you to do it directly lol.
