- Reviewed in Canada on July 20, 2021Verified PurchaseIf you have lots of devices at home then this is your go-to; had to replace my old router since we have around 20+ devices at home which made the wifi very slow due to congestion. with a tri-band router like this, you can avoid that. this is probably the selling point of this router plus wifi 6.
the speed of wifi 6 is almost as good as a wired one. if you have a gigabit plan you'll probably run with 600 to 800 Mbps depending on where you're at. cant say we'll have the same results but thats based on my experience
the only problem with this router is the companion app NIGHTHAWK, the app functions nicely on iOS but has problems with android devices
- Reviewed in Canada on April 3, 2022Verified PurchaseHad nothing but trouble with the modem/router provided by my ISP using Ignite. TV signals glitch, WIFI is not stable, speed was slow. After bridging to the Nighthawk, it was like entering into heaven. Months of poor service were quickly remedied. And their support team were superb in assisting me for the initial setup!
- Reviewed in Canada on June 17, 2022Verified PurchaseI've owned a number of this company's products, one of which is a three-year-old R8000 router. It performed so well, and for so long, I thought it would be a good idea to buy another Netgear device to replace it when it failed.
I was actually impressed with this router for about five months till things went to crap. I spent $600 on a piece of junk. Allow me to explain.
All of a sudden, even though the 2.5G and both 5G wireless connections showed as available and I could connect, there was no internet connection. When connected via LAN, the internet was fine. So somehow, the wireless service was available but did not make a connection to the internet portion of the router. Ok, electronics can break down. Things happen. Netgear is a big company, been around a long time, it shouldn't be a problem getting a replacement. WOW, WAS I WRONG ON THAT POINT!
With the router being five months old, it was beyond the 30-day replacement warranty. This meant that in order to get service, I needed to spend time on the phone, way too much time. The first call to get through took about 45 minutes before I got someone on the line. There is a process to start a trouble ticket using online chat, but I was waiting for over an hour before I got a response which is why I called. This led to more time spent on the phone with first a level one service person. They had me jump through all sorts of hoops, asking to check this and check that. I'm not new to the world of technology and told the gal right up front what was happening and what I had already checked. She made me go through it all again anyway. In all, I spent over two hours on the phone with her on two calls. Then it got bumped up to a level two tech, and I spent another 4 hours on calls with this person over three separate calls. These calls took place during business hours. If I could have billed them for the time I lost doing business, I would have been able to buy two new routers, but I digress...
The level two tech had me run all kinds of tests, do complete resets twice, look for logs, and update and downgrade firmware. It was a nightmare. Just send me a new replacement. I had to send them a config file of the settings I was using. They supposedly used this on a router in their lab to see if it was a config setting. I asked several times for them to just send a replacement. Overall it took three weeks before they decided that ya maybe there really was something wrong with the beast and offered to replace it. Well, this went wrong too.
First of all, I thought they would send me a new device since this one was so new. Nope, they sent me a refurbished unit, a used router. Do I have any confidence that this will work for any period of time before it too craters? In order to get this refurbished unit, I was offered three options for shipping, which I HAD TO PAY FOR!!! Even for warranty problems, they don't pay for the shipping. Since I had been without WiFI for three weeks, I bit the bullet and chose overnight shipping, which ended up costing me over $50 CDN. Did I get the router overnight? Heck no. They shipped it standard economy, which means I dint get it for about a week! When I complained, they did refund the charge, but it shows the level of incompetence that permeates this company.
I will never again buy a piece of Netgear equipment. I've had lots of devices fail, it happens, but in only one case, a BlackView phone was the service this poor. Electronics fail. That's life, but what really counts is how a company stands behind its products. In this case, all they did was aggravate me, waste my time and money, and then when they finally got around to agreeing it was a hardware problem, they charged me to ship a refurbished replacement.
The moral of the story is if you have this router or any piece of Netgear equipment and it fails, it would be smart to tell the service people that it won't power up; you'll get a replacement a lot quicker (probably still a refurb instead of new) that way and avoid all the wasted time and aggravation.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 16, 2022Verified PurchaseSignal is good and strong over entire house, no need for range extenders. Fast wifi with 2 x 5ghz options. Plenty of features. Better to use the desktop website access for administration because the mobile app is missing access to many features on the router.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 10, 2022Verified PurchaseEasiest router I’ve ever installed.I can’t believe the speeds I’m getting with this router and the big bonus for me is I can get rid of all those wifi extenders that I use to have and didn’t work anyway no more dead spots at all, even out to the garage. Just an amazing piece of equipment. Highly recommend!

- Reviewed in Canada on March 6, 2022Had been using Netgear products for over 2 decades and still have a working router from the old days. I am a technology nerd and try out almost every other brands for fun. Last year finally pick up this rax200 and nightmare began. First it ran perfectly for a few months until the very first firmware upgrade. One would expect to get better and more functionality, maybe so, if only the darn thing can stay up! A couple more upgrades and 6 months later, little better, only die once or twice EVERY MONTH, no kidding! In case you may be wondering, no, it is not the provider’s network. This probably will be my last Netgear product. It’s like I very much love the Porsche, but who wants one if it breaks down monthly!
