I don't yoga. Let's get that out of the way. But I do have 2 old dogs, one of whom requires a ramp to do stairs (level ground, she's great; stairs, not so much!). So I set up a temporary ramp arrangement using 4 motorcycle loading ramps!I bought some ribbed carpeting, and it was a disaster - felt almost oily - she slid down the ramp looking at me like "WTH is this?" Carpet tiles are better, but still not quite grippy enough in this cold weather (it gets stiff) and so I thought I would try my old yoga mat (from when my old bones did some floor work-outs). It was pretty good, so I thought I would invest in a couple more, since I have 3 ramps - one outside and 2 more in the house to the basement. The indoor ramps have that sandpaper grit material, which I already know she is NOT going to like.These are actually better for my needs than my original (it is still pretty stiff in the -25C weather we have right now). The material is soft but sturdy and stays pliable enough in these temps that my old girl can get decent traction outside - feels almost like a memory foam.     I haven't experience any bits tearing off yet, thank goodness. I hear that that was an issue for most people that have given this item a bad rating. However, I've noticed that this item is very thin, which makes kneeling for certain workouts hurt my knees. Even applying my weight to my hands hurt my palms during workouts because there is practically no support for my hands between the mat and the ground. Also, don't do any cardio exercises like jumping jacks on these mats with your socks on, because you WILL slip. Using these mats bare foot hardly makes a difference either. If you're in a pinch for a mat and if this item were on sale, then yeah, give it a try.
