I needed to replace my 20 yr. old Yamaha receiver and researched a number of units. The slim form factor and the phono input were a key reasons for my going with this unit. The setup was pretty easy; I'd suggest using a small height-adjustable camera tripod (if you have one) to do the initial sound mapping of your room as the mic can use the mounting screw.
The sound is excellent. Maybe it was the Yamaha slowing dying (upper mid-range model), but the improvement was noticeable; the Marantz still has the neutral sound of the Yamaha, but it spreads it out more so all the sounds seem more noticeable. This is true for both music and movie/tv audio.
