Signal not great

- Reviewed in Canada on September 8, 2024Style: Wi-Fi 6E |AXE5400 Tri-BandVerified PurchaseGreat router that met my needs. I’m not a techie but like to play one on occasion. This router was a significant upgrade to one supplied by Rogers for rural wireless here in Ontario. I was able to split my 2.4 and 5 GHz in Guest mode. I was able to connect my google mesh without issue. I also was able to add NORDVPN to the router so all my connections are protected. I currently don’t have anything able to take advantage of 6GHz but at least it’s there for the future. I wish I had bought a router years ago as the internet provider ones really do suck. My google mesh is so much faster connected to AXE75 compared to the old router. It’s easier to set up than I ever imagined and by keeping the same wifi names and passwords all my smart items didn’t have to be re-setup. I have a lot of various smart items so this was a huge time saver. I can highly recommend.

- Reviewed in Canada on August 11, 2024Style: Wi-Fi 6E |AXE5400 Tri-BandVerified PurchaseI bought this TP-Link AXE75 WiFi 6E Wireless Router to replace an existing Linksys Atlas Mesh system. While I did like the range provided by Linksys mesh, I didn't like the my devices weren't switching to the closer node without turning off WiFi or rebooting device. The mesh experience was not seamless. The TP-Link AXE75 was meant to provide coverage to my whole house, without setting up mesh nodes. The AXE75 is quite large and takes up a huge footprint, especially coming from the Linksys Atlas. I thought the 6 adjustable antennas would provide good range but unfortunately I was still getting weak spots at opposite end of my 1600 sq ft home. However, where I was getting a weak connection with the AXE75, I would get no connection when using single node of Linksys Atlas. The TP-Link also has a setup and interface compared to Linksys, which required using a mobile app. I was able to set the AXE75 as wireless access point as I already have existing router with my Internet service provider.
The speed and reliability are good and even with 3 bands, I haven't experienced any disconnects or drops. I could reserve the 6GHz band to my limited number of 6E devices, which is great. The 5GHz band is fast and 2.4GHz band is still good for smart home devices. There is also an option to create a separate IoT network, but I didn't find a need for that. A feature that interest me in the AXE75 is support for OneMesh and Easy Mesh. OneMesh allows created a mesh network with compatible TP-Link devices like another wireless router or range extender and on paper, it seems more intelligent and seamless than Linksys' implementation. TP-Link is also rolling out Easy Mesh, which is more of an open standard and allows setting up a mesh with different network brands. The problem I encountered is the Canadian firmware doesn't support Easy Mesh yet, despite the US and International firmwares providing support. I don't want to risk installing a firmware outside my region so it's disappointing why the Canadian firmware doesn't support it yet.

Price was excellent, ordered an allegedly open box version but what I got was clearly brand new. Recommended a friend do the same and his also came in mint condition so I don't know what the deal is with that but it's absolutely worth getting.
Works exactly as advertised. The wifi 6e is dedicated to my Quest and gets flawless streaming in the same room. Does work in the next room over at a lower frame rate, but I prefer to run at 120hz so try to avoid it.

- Reviewed in Canada on December 5, 2024Style: WiFi 6 |AX7800, 2.5G PortVerified PurchaseI honestly have to wonder how these things get off the factory floor.
Direct plug with the multiple different cables and the best I can get is 40 megabit off of it. The ISP supports 1gigabit no problem. I tried every port, the 1gb, the 2.5gb, nothing works.
Slowness aside, there was a really weird issue where half my machines could not communicate on lan with the other half the machines. Super duper weird. It cost me about 6 hours of time. 6 hours I wish i had back.
Use a different device.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to set up, faster than my old Netgear XR450 but with less features. Spotty WireGuard
This replaced my trusty old XR450 that I've had since 2019. I noticed a slight improvement in connection speed for certain devices on my network, for example my computer takes 50% (ish) less time to connect to my VPN service vs the Netgear. The LG tv which is connected over WiFi on 5G is also snappier in general.
I have about 18 to 20 devices connected to it permanently, half over cable via the LAN ports and a switch and the rest over wireless. I haven't noticed any of them hanging although some of the ones that are further away (30ft and about 3 walls on a lower level) will see a reduced connection speed over 2.4G (they'll see an under 100mb/s speed at times). It doesn't cover a bigger area than the previous one, I was expecting better performance through the beam forming tech it says it has but I haven't noticed any meaningful improvement to my peripheral 2.4G devices.
In terms of user interface it's easy to figure out settings, the GUI is clean and most settings are easy to get to with a minimum number of clicks which was not the case with the Duma OS system on the Netgear. I do miss all the micro adjustments that the Netgear offered like offline device history, comprehensive logging, firewall rules for each device and a few others. They do offer better ddos protection features and usage analysis (which came standard on the xr450) for a subscription which I didn't get.
The 6G band works well but it's best to be at best one room away from the router when using otherwise the signal strenght drops to where it's better to be on the 2.4G band for connection stability and bandwidth. I have not tried the 7G band as I don't have any devices that support it but it's nice to know that we're future proof for awhile.
I tried to set up a VPN remote connection to my home network via the B700 and noticed that while the DDNS service was easy to set up and was running and pointing to the correct address behind the CGNAT my provider uses Wireguard would only work for a short period before it would start getting "no handshake" errors and drop the tunnel. OpenVpn worked better but the speed of the connection is about 10x slower than measured from inside the network if not lower. Still, it does the job and works reliably.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast Router - Great Signal Strength
Note that this listing is for multiple routers, and this review is for the "WiFi 7 Archer BE700" within the listing, currently $349.99 at time of review.
Important Note:
-A router can only provide as much connection speed as your ISP is providing. The more devices you have connected to this router, or any router, sharing the Internet connection, the slower your connection speed will appear to be to each device! Example, if your ISP is providing 200mbps downstream data, and you have 40 devices connected, they're all sharing that same tunnel.
-The current fastest 'home' Internet in the U.S. is Google Fiber at 8Gbps! You'll only ever see WiFi 7 speeds (up to 46Gbps - Gigabits per second) when 2 devices within your home are communicating with each other when copying a file.
Positives:
-I've been setting up routers for decades and this was the easiest 'consumer' router I've ever worked with. Simply follow the quick start guide and you'll have a working wireless network within minutes. The TP-Link app works flawlessly and even 'sees' the router upon being powered on.
-Zero issues with obtaining an IP address from my ISP (Comcast/Xfinity) within a minute.
-Able to assign my preference of DNS server (1.1.1.1 and 4.4.4.4) without hassle.
-Easy to use MAC Address filtering.
-I am actually able to get within 5% of the WiFi 7 speed within my house on devices connected to the same wireless network.
-Integrated flawlessly with my existing home network. I have my modem going into this router and 2 switches connected to it and a PoE adapter to go to an outside access point. Everything was detected without issue and had Internet access within about 2 minutes of powering on this router.
-Google and Amazon devices can be seen across the 2.5GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz networks unlike my previous router where for whatever reason, it'd never work.
-2.5GHz signal if at full strength at least 50ft from the router, which is in my basement, when I walk away from my house. Absolutely crazy range.
-5GHz range is able to pass through 2 floors of my house and reach the opposite end of my house at ~90% signal strength.
-6GHz range doesn't go through the walls and floors as well, as to be expected, and hits around 80% signal strength in the same places as I get ~90% for the 5GHz.
-So far, zero odd wireless network drops after an entire month of usage. My previous Linksys router just loved to drop wireless on random devices throughout the day, insisting my Internet was offline in the app, yet I'd be actively playing a video game and streaming at the same time. This was likely due to poor multi-device support in the Linksys.
-The router doesn't even get warm whereas my previous Linksys got so hot, I had a fan blowing on it.
Negatives:
-Only one so far... the absolutely stupid wire used from the power brick to the router. It's extremely flimsy feeling, especially where it comes out of the power brick. Whomever designed it desperately needs to go back to engineering school, and whomever approved it isn't in the right position within TP-Link. Yes, it is that bad. I'd put up a pic, but it's now plugged in where I can't get a camera to it.
Considerations:
-As with ANY router, you really want to try to place it in a central location within your home, unlike myself, where I have mine in a closet in the basement. Though, it makes testing how well it works rather easy! To improve WiFi 7, iIm likely going to move it to the main floor of my house within the month, especially since we're finally getting proper Interne there.
This review is for "TP-Link Tri-Band BE15000 WiFi 7 Router Archer BE700 | 8-Stream 15Gbps | 1×10G+1×2.5G+2×1G Ports, USB 3.0 | 6 Internal Antennas | VPN Clients & Server | Easy-Mesh, HomeShield, MLO, Private IOT"

4.0 out of 5 stars Great if not too many devices, but...
I love TP-Links products, so I was excited to have the opportunity for this one. This was my third upgrade in two years. Knowing this was the new form factor and Wi-Fi 7i definitely had high expectations.
The one big issue is that the TP-Link Deco 15000 is only fifty bucks more than this at the time of writing this review.
If you have minimal devices (per TP-Link tech support it can handle 45) then this thing does scream. I love how I'm depth the settings can be in the web based settings control, yet you also have a ton of control through the tether app. It's clean and has lots of info.
I still struggled to get my multiple WiFi cameras to load with any decent speed. The app would show I had 84 devices attached max. I use Wi-Fi light switches, plugs, permanent outdoor lights, lights, can lights, sensors, etc... I ended up buying the TP-Link Deco that has the 3 units for four hundred. It's insanely fast with incredible range and coverage. Wi-Fi cameras almost all pop on within one second.
So overall the BE700 is great, and I really liked the MLO (multiple link) option where you just transition to whatever signal is strong enough through all the bands, but ultimately they showed themselves up with their Deco model. If you're in an average to small house and just run a few smaller things and want high speed this thing will crush though...
Really nice looking futuristic design, feels really well built. Ethernet snaps in really clean as well.
So if I wasn't uncommon and didn't run what turned out to be 96 devices (BE700 didn't connect them all at once) then I wouldn't have even blinked at looking for another upgrade, I would have been super happy with this one. I liked the app and functionality so much I was bummed I had to upgrade further(well plus dropping 4 bills extra hurts too).

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Drop in Solution for WiFi 7, and fast ethernet networks.
PRODUCT
TP-Link Tri-Band BE15000 WiFi 7 Router Archer BE700
REVIEW
Overall a nice powerful WIFI 7 router with strong signals for wide coverage. The router was easy to setup with step by step guides along the way. I think for the average home user who needs WiFi 7 coverage (on the 6Ghz band), this BE15000 / BE700 is a great plug and play solution. What I was missing were some advanced features, such as WAN failover and more advanced firewall and security capabilities. In the end, I kept my older router as my main firewall, but I then deployed the BE700 as a really nice High Powered Mesh node with Ethernet Backhaul. It is also great that it has so many additional ethernet ports, it enabled me to get ride of a switch while still providing MESH capabilities. The high speed ethernet ports help future proof your internet as ISP speeds move into the multi GB range. In effect besides a good router, you get a 2.5GB switch with 10GB uplink. That alone justifies the cost.
PRO's
- Strong Antennas (Internal)
- Four 2.5Gb ethernet ports
- One 10Gb ethernet ports
- One USB 3 Port for file sharing or Cellular Failover
- Supports Popular VPN's protocols like Wire Guard
- Easy Setup
CONs
- Advanced management is locked behind a subscription (but the included free management is good enough for most)
- No Dual Ethernet Failover Capability

RECOMMENDATION
Especially if you have (or plan to have) internet speeds over 1Gb, WiFi 7 capable clients, and 2.5Gb wired ethernet or close by wired computers (like gaming pc's and servers) this is a fantastic way to meet all your needs in one device.

- Can't change the admin user ID (only the password), which is a alight security risk
RECOMMENDATION
Especially if you have (or plan to have) internet speeds over 1Gb, WiFi 7 capable clients, and 2.5Gb wired ethernet or close by wired computers (like gaming pc's and servers) this is a fantastic way to meet all your needs in one device.

5.0 out of 5 stars The multi-gig Archer options explained - TP Link router
There are a number of different options for this product. I'll explain the different options. The only difference in the available options for this product are the number of ports, wi-fi speed, and max bandwidth, which I’ve summarized in order of speed/bandwidth:
Archer BE15000 Pro (model BE700 Pro) - Bandwidth 15 Gbps (11528 Mbps Wi-Fi speed). Ports: 1 x 10 Gbps WAN; 4 x 2.5 Gbps LAN.
Archer BE15000 (model BE700) - Bandwidth 15 Gbps (11528 Mbps Wi-Fi speed). Ports: 1 x 10 Gbps WAN; 3 x 1.0 Gbps LAN; 1 x 2.5 Gbps LAN.
Archer BE11000 Pro (model BE11000 Pro) - Bandwidth 11 Gbps (7688 Mbps Wi-Fi speed). Ports: 1 x 10 Gbps WAN; 4 x 2.5 Gbps LAN.
Archer BE9700 (model BE550 Pro) - Bandwidth 9.7 Gbps (6126 Mbps Wi-Fi speed). Ports: 1 x 10 Gbps WAN; 4 x 2.5 Gbps LAN.
Archer BE9300 (model BE550) - Bandwidth 9.2 Gbps (5760 Mbps Wi-Fi speed). Ports: 1 x 2.5 Gbps WAN; 4 x 2.5 Gbps LAN.
Archer BE9300 (model BE9300) - Bandwidth 9.2 Gbps (5760 Mbps Wi-Fi speed). Ports: 1 x 2.5 Gbps WAN; 1 x 2.5 Gbps LAN; 3 x 1.0 Gbps LAN.
-Note that there are some additional higher end options with additional features, e.g., more than 6 antennas, display screen, in addition to faster speed and better bandwidth (which I didn't list above).
I find the model numbering really confusing, but the thing to keep in mind is that they all have four LAN ports. The key is some models have four (4x) multi gig LAN ports, and some only have 1 multi-gig LAN port. This product only has one (1x) multi gig LAN port. If you want four (4x) multi-gig LAN ports you’d want to go for the pro version.
Setup of this router is pretty simple. You can use either the tether app on your phone or the GUI from a desktop PC to set it up and adjust the settings. The GUI from a PC has substantially more control features than the app. There’s even the option to turn off the LED’s, which is really helpful because they are really bright and distracting.
This also works with Alexa, although the commands are very limited (e.g., turn on the guest Wi-Fi or turn of the LEDs on the router). The internet is pretty stable, I haven’t experienced any issues with dropped connections, speed throttling, or anything requiring a reboot (aside from firmware updates and updating the settings). The Wifi 6 signal coverage isn’t as good or far reaching as the 2.4/5g coverage.
This also has parental controls monitor interest usage, set blocked lists, pause the internet, and generate usage reports. This can also be used as part of a mesh network with EasyMesh compatible devices (e.g., the Archer lineup of routers). There’s also an Archer wifie extender available (sold separately).
There are a couple drawbacks. First, the price is pretty steep. Especially considering the pro version is about the same price but has faster LAN ports. The app tries to offer you additional features that require a paid subscription as such as HomeShield, Security+, Wi-Fi Detective, Wi-Fi Toolkit, and VPN services (Nord and Surfshark). The other thing is the size. This is the bulkiest router I’ve ever seen. It’s not just a brick, it’s a boulder. Also, there’s no wall mount option.
In summary, this is great for blazing fast speed. It’s large and bulky and will try to upsell you on additional paid features. The model numbering is tricky and hte pricing doesn’t always track the features, so be sure to look out for the LAN ports, wifi speed, and max bandwidth to determine which option is best for you.
