- Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2024For the price these are unbeatable, seriously.
60 bucks and the only possible negative to these mics is the little bit of self noise and that's NOT something to complain about when you're getting TWO mics like this for so cheap.
The sound quality (apart from the light hiss) is crystal clear, the attenuators make these work when you plug them straight into a camcorder (I used them with the Canon XA-10 XLR inputs) to prevent line overdrive. The mounting rail works perfectly and there's really nothing I can find that is actually bad about these mics other than the audiophile's old nemesis, the self noise. And even that isn't bad, it's trivial and I could care less about it.
Get them if you want something cheap to bring out into the field!
(edit along with correcting a typo)
Forgot to mention that if you put these on the mounting rail and point them out at a 45 degree angle you can get near binaural sound (of course with the slight noise, whatever) and the sound is very natural.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2019This set of microphones is unbelievable for the price. It’s almost embarrassing how good they are. These are the cheapest microphones I’ve ever bought, yet they easily match mics three or four times the price. The sound is clean, clear, and full. They’re sensitive enough to pick up every nuance, but not too harsh or brittle. As a stereo pair in an X/Y configuration, they capture the stereo field brilliantly. I wouldn’t hesitate to use these on any project. I think they excel on things like flutes, singing bowls, acoustic guitar, etc. I used them on bongos at a live show and they really popped.
The only real negative I can find is that they do seem a bit fragile. They’re not built like Shures, so they require careful handling. I’ve owned my set a couple years as of this writing, and they’re still holding up fine. Of course, they are condensers so they do require phantom power. Like most microphones, they're not perfect for every application. I tried them on saxophone and wasn't impressed at all. But they sounded good on flute.
Overall I’m very pleased to have this set of microphones in my collection. I'm considering buying a second set.

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2011These are small diaphram, phantom powered condensor mikes. As such, they have an even off-axis frequency response well suited to ORTF recording.
I've been using a pair of these mikes in an ORTF configuration to record chamber music. Mostly my wife's string quartet. I bring the mikes in on center axis, in an ORTF configuration (angled away from each other at about 110 degrees spread, capsules about 8 inches apart), about 6 feet in front of the group's front line, about 6 feet off the ground.
I then take the raw recording into Cool Edit and apply some EQ to get a balance that sounds natural to my ears, and just a bit of reverb to sweeten the sound. Most people move the mikes in and out from the ensemble to balance the instruments with the sound of the room, but that's pretty much guesswork. By emulating room sound in the post processing, I get exactly the sound I want.
Sounds pretty pedestrian, doesn't it? You should hear the results. I have friends who do location recording using Neumann, Schoeps and the like. My recordings sound better. They really do. Not because these are better mikes. It's because being both an acoustic musician and an engineer, I know what sound I want to get and using the gear I have, both hardware and software, make it happen. You can do that with these mikes.
If you haven't got the budget for the Big Guns like Neumann and the like, but want to get a very good location recording of your own, you can do that with these microphones. They are well suited to acoustic recordings of chamber ensembles, school band, orchestra, or even vocal choir. Read up on the ORTF recording technique. Record direct to digital. Post process in software for EQ, using your ear to get what sounds most like they did live, and sweeten a bit with a small amount of digital reverb.
You'll amaze yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Muy buena calidad de sonido.
Volveria a comprar.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic for church choir!
Just got these mics a few weeks ago. They were used daily for a week for choir and for speeches. They worked flawlessly. They absolutely blew away the rented condenser mics we had acquired for the event which I'm sure were much higher priced. The sound quality was excellent and were not as prone to feedback as some of the other mics we used. Excellent for speeches as well as the mic can be placed further away from presenters that are more microphone shy. Very happy with the case, clips, stereo mount and pop screens that were included. Great value for the money at +/- $110.00 plus tax. How long they last? Only time will tell but right now I definitely recommend them.
