Product Description
Farm Direct Organic Matcha from Japan
Authentic Japanese Origin
Matcha is produced across Japan, but we've found the very best organic matcha to be ground from tea leaves grown in the Uji and Kagoshima regions. Family-owned partner farms fuse traditional and modern techniques to cultivate leaves brimming with flavor and nutrients.
100% USDA Organic
True, authentic Japanese matcha that is certified organic is still in extremely scarce supply (less than 1% of Japanese tea farms are certified!) — and we have been carefully forming partnerships with the preeminent farms to be able to supply the best quality organic matcha for fair value.
Lab Tested for Integrity
We test our products both at the farms where they are grown, as well as by third party laboratories here in the U.S. Our quality standards were developed through a combination of state and federal guidelines as well as consultation with scientific research and analysis.
Passionate Farmers & Traditional Techniques
- Shade grown for 3-4 weeks prior to harvest to boost nutrient content
- Selectively picked, with stems and veins removed to improve texture and taste
- Ground into an ultrafine powder, keeping delicate nutrients intact
Ceremonial vs Culinary Matcha
Ceremonial grades are from first harvest leaves, have a smoother flavor suitable for traditional preparation as a tea (just mixed with hot water and whisked), and are more expensive. Culinary grades are from later harvest tea leaves, have a bolder flavor meant for mixing into recipes as an ingredient, and are more affordable. Both are brimming with healthy tea antioxidants.
Premium Organic Ceremonial Matcha
Single Serve Stick Packs
Premium first harvest tea leaves are picked and carefully crafted into our Ceremonial Matcha, giving it a delightful, smooth flavor profile. Our single serve stick packs provide on-the-go convenience for this premium matcha. Just add a stick pack to iced or hot water for tea and add milk for lattes.
- Origin: Uji & Kagoshima, Japan
- Premium first harvest tea leaves - Okumidori, Kanayamidori, Sayamakaori, Samidori, Yabukita Cultivars
- Well-rounded taste profile from the fusion of the Uji (Kyoto) region's characteristically rich, deep flavor and the Kagoshima region's light, refreshing flavor
- Our stick packs provide on the go convenience so getting your daily matcha fix is easy!
- Also available in affordable pouches and tins that are resealable and can be used on their own, or to refill tins
- Available in small and large sizes for best value. See options below:

It’s lasting me a longtime since you don’t need much & in sensitive to caffeine. It’s authentic pure good quality matcha - you won’t find better
- Reviewed in Canada on December 20, 2020Flavour Name: Culinary Grade (Pouch)Size: 100 g (Pack of 1)Verified PurchaseEDIT: I've now purchased and almost finished my 2nd bag and made countless lattes both hot and cold!
I'd like to start off by saying this is hands down the BEST matcha powder I've ever owned and am beyond happy that I made the purchase! This is my review after drinking 3 lattes!
PROS:
Taste - like many have already stated it does taste pretty identical to Starbucks matcha powder, that being if you're making it into a latte, only difference is that you're in control of how much and what type of sweetener you use. Honey is recommended! The matcha tastes incredibly clean, fresh and light tasting (easily adjustable to preference), very smooth and you cant seem to stop sipping it, there is no powdery or bitter aftertaste either which I love!
Blending - It's extremely easy to blend up in a standard blender, if you're not someone who wants to use the whole bamboo method this powder will suit you perfectly. A tsp into the blender with 1/4 cup warm water and blend for 30 seconds and it's perfect to pour over ice, just shake the blender to catch the bits that do get up the side! It comes out insanely smooth I love it.
Price - Cant beat the price, if you're debating whether to go for the smaller bag or larger bag GET THE LARGE, you wont regret it. For the price of the large bag you can make 50 servings that's about 5 starbucks drinks, incredibly worth. Matcha is usually quite expensive and I was questioning whether or not to even buy this but I am SO glad that I did its beyond worth the price.
Customer Service - after purchasing the matcha the company sends you a lovely email with a little booklet all about their matcha and how to use it to get the best results. Who knew you should keep it in the fridge to preserve freshness? I didn't! Theres recipes to follow to have the perfect cup which I found very useful as in the past I wasnt able to make a smooth perfect tasting cup, which is what always turned me away from purchasing matcha but after following these instructions I've been able to make the perfect matcha 3 times, my boyfriend even loved it! And it visually looks beautiful when you pour it over your iced milk!
CONS:
None. Literally, there are no cons in my opinion with this product or company. I'm beyond happy and look forward to making my matcha lattes daily and saving money at Starbucks now! Amazing ♡
My recipe is:
1 tsp matcha powder
1 tsp honey
1/4 cup warm water
Blend for 30 seconds and pour over iced vanilla almond or soy milk, for milk just fill up a mason jar to almost full but leave a little room for the matcha and its heaven.

Images in this review - Reviewed in Canada on January 6, 2024Flavour Name: Ceremonial (Stickpack)Size: 10 g (Pack of 1)Verified PurchaseFirst of all, big fan of the brand here. I've repeatedly been buying from them for over 3 years and have tried both the culinary and the ceremonial types.
About the ceremonial grade: rich and potent, with a natural grassy taste, lovely green colour, no strong odour and VERY positive effect on the rest of my day. It's like an activation of a pocket of energy but without the aftereffects of crash that coffee or chocolate sometimes give me. If you are drinking it just for the benefits you can easily make a small cup and drink it whisked with water only - the taste is mild enough that beginners do not need to "cover" it with sweeteners or milk. If it's your first time you might find the taste a bit odd but it's not very strong so you can get used to it pretty fast. However if you are trying this to recreate a latte experience that you first lived in a big brand coffee shop then yes you can definitely add milk and sweetener to this - please just know that ceremonial grade matcha is very pure and therefore more expensive compared to lower grades that are generally used in commercial lattes so start with a smaller spoon until you find the right quantity for you, energy-wise and taste-wise. If you are on a budget and just want a matcha latte then consider trying their culinary grade matcha.
*If you are new and unsure about how much to use or if you only use it once in a while, you can try their single serve packs. I recently had to order this format because the bag version was out of stock. I think it's cool because the quantity is already pre-measured so you just use one pack per mug and it keeps fresh longer too. Once you become a regular I would definitely recommend moving to the bag version as it is more sustainable, both price-wise and environmentally-wise.
About the culinary grade; aside from lattes it is also great for brownies, cooking etc. It looks more brownish green than the ceremonial grade and the taste is less pronounced; it is really a powder meant to be mixed with more than water. It is still potent enough that you feel the kick of energy so that's great. And of course it's cheaper too!
The reason I'm removing a star is because I can't really rely on getting the product every time as it is often out of stock and the prices have increased a lot over the 3 years I've been ordering - matcha has become mainstream so it makes sense that the price will rise to match demand and supply but I hope that the price will settle eventually.
Overall I recommend them for the great quality and freshness.

- Reviewed in Canada on March 12, 2022Flavour Name: Ingredient Grade (Pouch)Size: 454 g (Pack of 1)Verified PurchaseWe've purchased ceremonial, culinary and ingredient grade matcha all from Jade Leaf. We are no experts but we are very satisfied with this brand and depending on how you're using ingredient grade, we find it to be sufficiently adequate for our iced drinks. One of us has it plain, and the other with almond milk and stevia-monk fruit sweetener and no bitterness is detected. BTW, it mixes easily when shaken in a jar with water, no need for fancy bamboo whisking or frothers.
Ceremonial is darkest green, most finely ground and the least bitter but it has the same general flavor as the other two lesser grades. Culinary grade is also quite fine but a little bit more bitter than ceremonial and ingredient grade is a teeny tiny bit gritty, bright green with a touch yellowish and slightly more bitter than culinary grade.
As we're using about 4 tsps daily, costwise the ingredient grade is plenty good enough for our iced drinks. If the quality stays consistent, I think we'll be sticking with ingredient grade as it's the best value and perfectly a-ok for us non-connoisseur matcha appreciators.

1.0 out of 5 stars Difficult Packaging, Decent Matcha
Flavour Name: Culinary Grade (Pouch)Size: 30 g (Pack of 1)Verified PurchaseI had high hopes for this matcha powder, but the packaging turned out to be a major issue. The powder is packed so tightly into the bag that it’s nearly impossible to transfer it to a jar without making a mess. It sticks to the sides and doesn’t pour out easily. I ended up losing some of the product just trying to get it out. Once I did manage to try the matcha itself, it was fine, but the hassle of the packaging really dampened my experience. Would recommend looking for a brand with better, more user-friendly packaging.
