Product description

Max accuracy and reliability to master every tactical scenario. We took the bedrock precepts behind every riflescope we build – optical precision, rugged reliability and uncompromising performance – and pushed them ever farther for the AR-platform.

A sighting system as mission adaptable as you are. The Bushnell AR Optics 4.5-18x 44mm Bullet Drop Compensating (BDC) Reticle riflescope with side parallax focus features target turrets for pinpoint-precise adjustments, plus caliber-specific reticle to deliver every round with peerless accuracy. Drop Zone-223 BDC reticle is calibrated for 55-62 grain, 223 REM/5.556 loads. Zeroes at 100 yards, with aiming points out to 500 yards. Fully multi-coated optics for incredible brightness, and fast focus eyepiece deliver maximum accuracy and reliability. Nitrogen purged to remove any vestige of internal moisture, and O-ring sealed to prevent the entry of dust or moisture. Made of high-durability aluminum alloy, anodize-finished and sealed to protect the inside from elements. Riflescope is rustproof, virtually scratchproof and a beautiful complement to even the most expensive AR platform firearm.

Please note that the scope’s erector cap assembly (located on the bottom of the scope windage and elevation control housing) may limit the possibility to use extra-low or low scope rings on AR Optics riflescopes. Most commonly, medium height rings provide the clearance necessary to eliminate contact with the cap and the scope base or receiver on most firearms. Please check the clearance necessary on your individual firearm prior to selecting scope rings.

From the manufacturer

Blazing Target Acquisition. Peak Accuracy.

There's nothing like a red dot for fast target acquisition and accuracy in dim conditions. The TRS-25 1x25 red dot is engineered with Amber-Bright optics to help you quickly distinguish between a brown tree and a brown critter. Thanks to the scope's multicoated optics, hunters will have no problem seeing their target in low-light conditions. Other features include a 100-percent waterproof/fogproof/shockproof construction, a dry-nitrogen-filled housing, and a CR2032 battery.

About the Sight

This sight can be easily used with both eyes open (eye relief is unlimited), increasing the shooter's awareness of the surrounding environment and providing faster target acquisition. There is no need for centering, due to the parallax free design in which the dot follows the movement of the user’s eye while remaining fixed on the target. The TRS-25 delivers full size performance in a sight with reduced size and low power consumption.

Red Dot Reticle

The TRS-25 utilizes a crisp, sharp red dot reticle. A control knob is used to adjust the red dot setting. A certain amount of resistance is designed into the control knob to ensure that the sight is not inadvertently turned on. The red dot may appear blurry if the dot intensity is set too high for the ambient light conditions. This is most likely to occur indoors with artificial, fluorescent lighting. The illumination control knob should only be set at the highest settings for use in bright ambient light conditions; for example, outdoors on a sunny day. An illumination setting that is too high for ambient light conditions typically results in a dot that appears distorted and non-concentric. For best results, increase the red dot setting until the scope gives the user an aiming reference that is perceptible but not glaring.

It is a good product for current price. The brighteness levels can go beyond desired effect which is helpful in darker settings. She stays zero with my .22lr. I do have one concern and hope Buschnell can help me out in some way- There seemed to be some paint flake off, on the inside of the scope. It moves around from time to time.Any suggestions Buschnell?

Nice, no frills red dot. Worked great out of the box. No issues as of yet. Will range test on weekend. Price point is great. Picked up another one right away for another rifle. I think some people write bad reviews because they don't know how to use a product or they are unable to use it properly. If you have astigmatism red dots aren't for you unless your wearing your scripts. Also dont 'test' in fluorescent light as that can affect the red dot. Red dots are meant to use both eyes open. You don't look through the sight. You look at your target and the red dot goes through your dominant eye and you will see it on your target as if you had a laser pointer on it. It is not mounted like a scope (close eye relief). You mount it further away and use both eyes open. I also think some people are looking through the objective lens backwards. That's the only way I can see red glow, or a ring or red. Take the bad reviews with a grain of salt. Remember, not everyone knows what they're doing or talking about, and many unintelligent, angry people like leaving bad reviews.
Time will tell if this sight will hold up. It likely will. Bushnell lifetime guarantee as well. Haven't had to use it before but with any good firearm or firearm optic accessory company they always come through and make it right in my experience.
You want a simple no frills red dot at a more than reasonable price? Get it.

cheap, durable, bright, easy to use and holds zero well. Easy mounting system too which only requires an Allen wrench that is included so this will ensure a tight fit. works well as a backup sight too for me with my nikon 4x12 bushmaster scope. It's also a great "every gun" sight as long as a Picatinny rail is available. The dot moves too which will keep your point of aim true even though you're not aligned properly with your sights which can prove very useful. The only bad thing I consider is that you need a screwdriver or a coin to change the position of the dot but still is amazing. Worth every penny if your not planning on spending the amount it takes to buy a gun to get an optic device

Works great on my Ruger AR556 with the medium riser from UTG, co-witnessed with the factory iron sights. The 11 power settings allow for lots of flexibility in target acquisition in various scenarios. Auto shutoff would be the only improvement that would make this sight complete. 3 MOA RED dot size is a great choice for both close range and long-range shooting. Zeroed at 50 yards which brings the round back to zero at 200 yards, good for close-in and distant engagements. Unlimited eye relief and parallax-free design maintains accuracy and allows for both eyes open rapid engagement, perfect for competition use. I plan to pair this with a flip up magnifier to enhance long-range target acquisition. I liked this sight so much I bought another one for my Remington 870 shotgun for grouse hunting. Buy this sight, you won't be disappointed!

Accurate, compact design and bright enough to see in sunshine at the range. That being said the laser would intermittently shut off during shots, almost like a loose connection. Seemed to stop after a while but still mildly concerning.

The Bushnell TRS-25 used to be the gold standard, and nearly the only option, for reliable red dots on a budget. If you wanted something under or around one bill, it was either this or a cheap airsoft, open-emitter window dot.
Even though it's been overshadowed by some other budget options, this is still a solid choice with a robust brand name behind it.

I don't write reviews much anymore. I figured I'd chime in with a contemporary 2022 opinion.

I always put off buying a TRS-25. I figured it's a pricier "cheap" red dot. I always opted for the red dots in the $25-50 price range (Field Sport, Feyachi, Midten), figuring they're just range red dots. I've owned half a dozen of these red dots in that price range, and even the ones that are "TRS-25 Clones". I always assumed the ones that look just like the TRS-25 are pretty much the exact same thing with different markings on them. 6 years after buying my first cheap red dot for range time, I've finally bought the TRS-25 that I saw then. I just always figured it wasn't worth double or triple the cost of those.

Upon closer inspection, they're actually a fair bit different, in small ways. I'm surprised in a good way, and the quality of the TRS-25 is a bit nicer. The dot is actually clear, but it appears like a little star burst in the exact same pattern as all my other red dots. It's a very minor astigmatism I have, and it's not an issue. I noticed the same pattern on Aimpoint PROs, etc.

It comes with the expected items in a nice cardboard box. Little wrench, a bikini cover, and a battery that is not dead inside the unit with a plastic liner keeping it from making contact.

The emitter inside the rear seems a little more thoughtfully constructed and built in. Glass has a very light blue tint to it, which I've seen on some.

The battery dial is easy enough to turn, but not loose. Again, having owned several of the cheaper red dots, some of them are looser, and some are so tight you can hardly turn the thing. This is a happy medium.

I was curious about the adjustment turrets, so I included some pics of that stuff, too. I never really see those without the caps on in reviews, so I added mine. The caps for the turrets do not have any notch or points machined into them to use them to adjust the actual turrets when they're off, but a shell case rim did just fine. They have a concave notch machined into them, so something like that shell case rim or a dime would work perfectly.

My TRS-25 has laser etched dial dot and Bushnell markings, referring to an older review that showed the real vs not real model. Mine seems consistent with a real one, except the laser etchings. Just about everyone is going to laser etchings as they're just cheaper to do.

Everything about it feels like it's better finished and machined, and over all a bit nicer than my previous models. I didn't think the difference would be noticeable at all, much less as much as it is. Even the mounting screw and plate catch are better machined, and this mounting plate catch is spring loaded. Most are not.

I'm running it on top of a spare UTG 0.83" riser I already had, the medium model. It allows for the lower 1/3 ish co-witness with standard height AR rifle sights. The UTG riser is not included.

I'm planning on purchasing another one for another rifle running a cheaper older model. The older model is nice, but costs about 2/3 of this price. It just started flickering on and off after a year. I had to open it up and tighten stuff up and hopefully it'll continue working.

I will actually update and follow up with this review, once I can get out and run the red dot, IF anything goes wrong. If two years from now this review is still posted with no UPDATE: section, then it has been running just fine. This is an initial impressions review, and so far, it's quite a bit nicer than I thought. Worth the extra money? As of right now, yes, and I'd never have agreed to that in the past.

    Thanks for reading.

Excellent quality, typical of Bushnell. Fitted to my .45acp Norinco semi automatic pistol it seems resilient enough. The brightness of the red dot is superb. It doesn't wash out in 35C heat and the BRIGHT sunlight here in Spain, even when pointed at a white wall. Eleven brightness positions manually adjustable for use on indoor ranges. Very happy with it.
