You just have to make sure your water appropriate for each cup of uncooked rice. However, at 1 night during a hotel stay, it suddenly just stopped working. No light, no burnt cable smell, nothing at all. I thought maybe the power outlet got short circuit, so I moved elsewhere but to no avail. Now it's just a waste. I hope there is a way to even open the bottom to inspect the cables but no screws to use.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 23, 2023Verified PurchaseThe function selecting doesn't work( can't choose among white rice, brown rice, congee, cake and soup), nor the delay timer function. Also there is a patch on the inside of the inner pot. Can only cooks white rice without delay timer function.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 10, 2023Verified PurchaseI bought this a few months ago and already the handle broke. I've used it no more than eight times. Plastic is so thin around the collar, it's almost inevitable it's going to break. The paint around the lip of the pot is already chipping which she got to wonder where those chips are going? It's too bad because it's a good size but not worth the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars DESIGN FLAW
Verified PurchaseAfter five uses the function button is not working, making this cooker useless and I am a day late for returning it for refund!! You need to press the button harder in order to use it the subsequent time because the way it is designed. This makes the function button not functioning sooner or later!! Believe me this will
happen to you, may be not the fifth time, but it will, on the sixth time, because of the design flaw!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfection
Verified PurchaseI’m weary of teflon, so
i have always sworn by my Aroma Stainless Steel rice cookers. I have 2– a small one that makes up to 3 cups, and a larger one that makes up to 6 cups, which also has a brown rice setting. I use the larger one for brown rice, but even the least amount of rice that i can make on it, seems like a too much. So when I saw this tiny rice maker, I jumped on it! As soon as it arrived, I set it up and made a batch of brown rice. It came out perfect, and the best part is that I can just make 1-2 servings and not a whole tubful that will go to waste. No boiling or bubbling over, which would sometimes happen when my rice makers were cooking the max volume.
One thing I’m noting is that, once you set up the cook setting, the little lights light up around the button/circle while it’s heating up, rolling around it. I’m making note of this bcs I was stumped when it happened. Also, I saw some reviews stating they didn’t know how much water to use. You have to measure the rice specifically with the little cup they provide. From there, if you use a cup of rice, pour it into the rice cooker and fill with water up to line 1. For 1.5 cups, fill to 1.5 line, and for 2 cups, fill to line 2.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice design but handle broke immediately and now it does not cook rice...
Verified PurchaseI am hoping the manufacturer will replace the handle. Everything else is simple and seems durable but the handle ring snapped. I have taped it so it works but it needs an upgrade.
2nd note
The heating element does seem to work - rice never cooks but oatmeal boils over despite it beinga a small amount. I am outside the return range.. but save yourself the hassle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rice Cooker is great but cheaper options are better
Verified PurchaseIt's wild how many people don't know how to cook rice at all are writing these reviews. Not only is google free but if you have an Asian friend just ask them how much water you should put in to make your rice. (If you don't have one: As your new Asian friend, I recommend filling the water up to the first knuckle of your right pointer finger from the base of the rice. No, I don't know why this works, but it just does.) Also dear god, please rinse your rice at least 3x, these pics are so obvious that you're not doing that at all and I'm concerned for you.
The rice cooker is great, but my college $19 tiger rice cooker with an on & off switch worked just as well. It's madd cute though. Enjoy!

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not purchase this OCTAVO two cup Rice Cooker-Waste of money$$$
Verified PurchaseThis rice cooker is a dud. Its expensive. I was willing to pay a little more for the styling. Do not purchase this one. Stopped cooking rice after one month. I purchased this on Feb 10 of 2023, reached out to seller the third week of March 2023. So far have not received a response. 30 day return policy. Total waste of $$$.
