Constant dripping sound like a tap dripping into the sink. Also I can hear the high pitched hum from this unit from 30 feet away. It's that awful high pitched noise that sounds like a vacuum cleaner, but faint. A very irritating noise, so I have to have music on constantly if this thing is running. They say on the box that humans can't hear it, well I sure can. Also the cap leaks unless it's tightened so tight that it's an awful strain to get off the next time, and I'm a strong man who repairs my own vehicles! You also have to constantly be going and buying 5 gallon jugs of distilled water if you live with hard water. Uses about 2 gallons a day on medium, which is ok if it's only -5C out. But unit needs to be on high below that temperature and it uses 4 gallons a day then, in a 1000sq ft condo. Other than that it works. I'm currently getting a replacement unit due to the leaking cap. We'll see if it's any better.After 5 years it is now leaking out of the control electronics. Seems like a shock hazard to me.

    It does its main job, although it requires VERY regular cleaning. Poor design choices make it more difficult to clean, and potentially a health hazard if you don't soak and rinse out the cleaning solution properly. (Vinegar is generally safe, but do you really want to be breathing in vinegar fumes?).

    Provides good value for the price, compared to wick humidifiers which require expensive wick filters every month or so. However, you pay for it by needing to be more diligent with cleaning this unit.

    Compared to a smaller PureGuardian ultrasonic humidifier, this unit is excessively difficult to clean for no good reason. These are design flaws, not engineering limitations. There is no reason to have a mist nozzle cap which is mostly enclosed and just collects mildew.

    Cleanliness: 2/5
    - Even on cool mist, pink bacterial growth present within 2-4 days after cleaning (I use vinegar for cleaning, AND use a new PureGuardian colloidal silver-based antimicrobial cartridge!)
    - Very small opening, difficult to clean the water reservoir; -Honeywell has a large humidifier that has a WIDE enough opening (same lid structure) that allows you to easily clean the inside. This is a design flaw that could have been avoided.
    - Paper-thin crevice between the lid of the water reservoir and a support structure. Great spot for pink mildew, and even the included brush can't reach it. You need to soak it in vinegar and then use a dry paper towel to floss in between it. This is NOT a problem with a smaller PureGuardian ultrasonic humidifier, which has amble space between those two plastic structures.
    - Nozzle on top (which lets you aim the mist) is very difficult to clean for no reason other than poor design. You need to soak it in vinegar and then try to use a Q-Tip to get into the crevices. Why not just use a simple, easy to clean design? Very poor design
    - After cleaning and rinsing it out multiple times, it produced a significant level of air pollutants (vinegar fumes?) which my air purifier detected. (15x the normal level). I had to soak it in plain water and rinse it a few more times. If it were easier to scrub the parts of the unit, this wouldn't be as annoying.

    Sound level: 5/5
    - Extremely quiet; people complaining about sound may have a faulty unit
    - There is no loud bubbling noise or electronic sound from my unit

    Humidification: 5/5
    - Increases humidity level a great deal, although not enough for an entire 1-bedroom apartment. As indicated, this is for a "large room." I had to buy a smaller unit to supplement this for winter temperatures (dry air due to heating)

    I love the option to be able to turn on and off the light as well as increase the flow of humidity and the warm mist option. It is completely silent even when it's at the highest output. It is pretty easy to clean but I also add a little bit of hydrogen peroxide to my water to decrease the possibility of any mold growing inside. I also have had to use a butter knife to scrape off some of the white dust from hard water buildup. We've been running ours almost daily for the last couple of years and it has been great! My only complaint is that the wafer for the essential oils was in a different location so you could actually smell it coming through the water.

    Let me start with : I have a terrible cold. My husband gave me HIS cold. We bought this humidifier thinking that it would make us feel and breathe better. Wintertime is awful stuck inside your home because of heavy snow outside. This product is sitting in our living room and works beautifully!!! WE CAN BREATHE a lot better . It's easy to read for directions and it has 3 settings for release of humidity from it. We have it on number 2 which is enough for our tiny living room. It is not small and holds a lot of water. We use distilled water in it. My plants inside are even healthier. You won't be sorry by ordering this product. It WORKS and there is no noise at all from it. Thanks for making this product.

    Can't hear it at all all night long and it's right next to my bed. I have it on about 3 or 4 output level. Two gals of distilled water lasts a few nights. I make sure my hands are clean when unscrewing filler cap to cut down on bacteria. I plan on buying more 32% hydrogen peroxide and adding a few drops occasionally to prevent any baddies from forming. Last time I bought some it came in about a quart bottle and also a blue glass bottle with an eydropper. That stuff works great but must be handled with extreme caution. Especially dangerous to the eyes and WILL cause loss of sight if contact with eye is made so be warned. Bleach does the same thing but I hated the smell and my eyes were burning a little the next morning when I only added just a few drops to a gallon. Won't be doing that again but it does prevent baddies from growing in the water. Anyway, this humidifier works fabulously compared to my Homedics two gallon unit. Don't get me wrong it is great too and their customer service is very good too, as they sent me a brand new one after my almost two year old one started leaking out the bottom. It runs much louder than the Pure Guardian but the mist comes out more robust than the Pure Guardian because of how the mist exits the unit. If Pure Guardian didn't have a double exit for the mist it would probably be as robust as the Homedics. Both are easy to fill and clean and each holds two gals but for quiet operation the Guardian wins hands down. I run them both for eight hours a night one on each side. Both have warm mist setting as well as cool. The Homedics makes gurgling sounds all night long so I use earplugs. I'm a light sleeper so that helps me a lot. I can still hear my alarm go off to get up, but they muffle the gurgling and I sleep like a baby. On these hot summer nights I run the air at 77 degrees and the humidifiers add just the right amount of cooling to the air to sleep well. Highly recommend the Pure Guardian as well as the other if you want to combat the dryness air conditioning naturally causes either in summer or especially in winter when the heater really causes dryness of the air. The scented oils don't really kick in much on either for very long and that's probably due to it being so passively introduced on its little "shelf drawer" with a saturated pad. It's too bad the scented oils can't be injected into the mist more positively but that's how these are made. I guess they have other ways of doing that, like a bowl with a light under it or something. When filling reservoir I just flip it upside down on the bed and pour in. Then I snug the filler cap not too tight and grabbing the handle in my right hand, cradle the bottom of full reservoir in left hand while placing it into position. Never have any problems. Read reviews where people complained about it's too heavy. Or the cap didn't screw on right and it spllied all over. Some people just don't have any basic motor skills I suppose. Regardless, this humidifier is worth every penny in my opinion. Looking forward to years if service and never repeat never will I put anything but distilled water through it. Heard too many whine about white dust forming on nearby surfaces I guess from mineral deposits. If you're going to afford the luxury of one of these, you gotta feed it right. Shame there isn't a way to distill your own and save money but if anyone knows please don't hesitate to let me know. Hope this review helps your decision.

    This humidifier works well but still struggles to moisten my small 300sqft apt. We run it non stop just to keep from waking up with dry mouths and bloody noses. But that could just be that we are asking to much of it. The warm air function has never worked and It almost seems like false advertising since by definition, the way I understand it, the machine generates ultrasonic waves that vibrate the water molecules until they split from the tank Water with enough force and disperse through the air, there’s no heat energy involved so I’m not sure how they were expecting to get warm air out of it? Also, the diffuser part doesn’t work worth a darn! I can even load the pad with essential oil and at best it lasts for 3 min!

    This is a nice quiet unit but they don’t tell you that because it is an ultrasonic and not an evaporative humidifier that it reacts with your gas stove flame. If you buy the filter (not included), it fixes the problem. We thought we had a problem with our gas stove as the flames on all the burners turned pink/orange. After calling our gas company, they asked if we recently started using a humidifier, which we did. This type of humidifier releases small mineral particles into the air from the water, which causes the flames to be the less efficient pink/orange rather than the normal blue flame. It is not dangerous but it is less efficient similar to when a pot boils over and the water hits the flame. One YouTube video poster said to use either distilled water (demineralized) or buy the filter. I opted for the filter and within hours, problem solved. This is something that should be noted in the description and instructions so people don’t spend a lot of money on a gas company service call. Other than that it works great on both warm and cool mist.
