Not a great quality blade.
1 out of 5 stars
Not a great quality blade.
I have been a Leatherman fan for years and carried many of their tools and decided to try out the Free pocket knife. The knife is sturdy, feels good in the hands and the tool and blade operation is smooth.BUT… after my first day of use the blade has massively let me down. I did a few very light duty tasks at work with the blade (cardboard cutting, foam insulation cutting). When I arrived home I attempted to cut open a plastic Amazon bag and the blade wouldn’t do it. After one day of light use the blade is dull, there are chips out of the bottom of the blade and the tip of the blade is dull too.If you’re looking for an EDC pocket knife, skip this one for sure!

Perfect everyday carry I carry it everyday since I’ve gotten it perfect clip on it very durable knife’s extremely sharp and blades made out of really nice metal would definitely recommend for anybody looking to get themselves a good knife to carry everyday not to clunky and perfect size to clip on your waist and forget until you need the tools on it or the knife blade.

Made of 420HC hardened steel, this knife is a good starter blade being that the steel is a nice all-rounder which is why Leatherman continues to use it so frequently on their tools. It works & is easy to sharpen when required. It's expensive for what it is, a 3.3" Sheepsfoot (with a slight point) blade with a #1-2 Phillips screwdriver/bottle opener, awl & the pry tool/screwdriver. The Phillips is what comes in handy most often but in my personal EDC, this tool doesn't have much use.

I suppose it's good if all you need is a knife. However at this high of a price (CA$105-$121), the Skeletool CX offers you a 2.6" 154cm steel blade, pliers, exchangeable bit driver, bottle opener for CA$121 as well & I'd recommend that before any Free K2 model.

Nice little multi tool but a bit bulky to be used as a pocket knife.

5.0 out of 5 stars The only knife you will ever need. EVER. A work of functional art.

I'm a knife collector: Benchmade, Victorinox, SOG, Kershaw, I've had them all. There's simply no other knife that provides you with all of the tools this knife has - especially the very sturdy Philips head screwdriver - that you can open with ONE hand. AND, all of the tools, and the blade, lock in place. The knife is called the "FREE" because you can access the entirety of the knife with one hand free. I don't think some people realize how valuable this is when you may be holding something and can't put it down, but need a knife (or tools) at your disposal. This knife is a work of functional art. If you're a cowboy or astronaut, you need this knife and won't be able to put it down. Buy it today and maintain high expectations.

Blade is solid, sharp and HC steel. Comes perfectly sharp right out of the box. Just like every leatherman I have purchased in my life. I bought 2 of this particular model. I bought the first one and liked it so much I bought a second a month later.

The best feature to me besides the great shape and fit in my hand, is the new locking mechanism. I so love this new design of the lock.

I enjoy the just enough few useful EDC tools built in. I have never really required the use of the scissors on some Leatherman multi-tool because I have the knife blade itself.

Great little knife/tool for my first aid field kit. Leatherman quality can't be beat for the price.

This worked out so well that i purchased two more to donate to a local charity auction. Great tool.

Bought it to use as a work knife and it’s filled that position perfectly. It replaced a Benchmade griptilian. Now the blade steel on this isn’t exactly great but for a work knife it’s just fine. We would never abuse our work knives now would we. It is fairly wide in the pocket, even a smidge more than the griptilian but with the added bonus of 3 extra tools. Had to loosen pivot screws just a tiny bit for easier opening/closing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Maybe a bit too large to carry around in your pocket

I was most excited for the color to be honest but it looks move vivid in pictures than it does in person. It still looks good. One hand open and close is fine. The locking mechanism is good providing you engage it before pressing on the blade to close. Feels good in the hand. The phillips head screw driver works but is very flat so I don't know how often it will work. I still like it, its just too big for 5th pocket carry. It pokes out maybe a quarter inch but the thickness impedes me grabbing my phone out of my pocket. I think I am going to return it and stick with the Kershaw DIY Shuffle. It also has screw drivers and fits much better in my 5th pocket.
