Couldn't figure out how to contact support. Turned up I needed to use Amazon 'Return Item' link and they forwarded my case to the seller (RIKADE). I received email from RIKADE with email link to contact their support, which I did and I they replied they will send me the faulty rung. Luckily this is something I can replace myself easily. For now I give rating of 3 for unintuitive way of contacting the support. That email address for Rikade support could (should) have been printed on the paper documentation that arrived with the ladder.Increased the rating to 4 stars and will even go to 5 stars when I receive the rung. The ladder is a solid product if I can judge using it only shortly and I would buy it again (or some other Rikade product). That said, telescopic ladder generally wouldn't be my first choice if there was a conventional ladder at hand. There is definitely a trade off for compact storage (car trunk etc.) and that you can carry it into a confined spaces (like carrying it two floors up on a not too wide staircase which is problematic with conventional extension ladder - you knock walls, light fixtures ;) ).The trade off is the feeling of security and comfort on the ladder plus the ladder weight. This last means you will feel it carrying it up several floors and while climbing it, you will be reminded of that slogan about 'real men'. Rungs are more widely spaced than any conventional ladder and forget about ascending it in bare feet or even household slippers, too dangerous, never mind uncomfortable. There is also the 'logic of extensibility', or what to call it. If you will use the ladder only partly extended and would prefer to extend from the bottom in order to 'use' the fat tubes which are very rigid (you feel more comfortable on the ladder), you can only extend it as far as you can reach up which is not very far, so you need to extend it flat on the ground or leaning and then raise it (need to have the space to do it).And conversely, if extending only partly (here only 9' of 16' available) and you are OK with the top slimmer tubes flexing somewhat, then you will need to make a big step up to that second rung (over all the rungs not extended). Not only will it remind you of the 'real men' slogan but also means you pretty well need both hands to climb the ladder (I can go up or down conventional extension ladder one floor up the house while carrying big window screen using both hands while keeping balance only by my knees leaning against rungs, wouldn't try doing it with telescopic ladder even if here we are talking much smaller height). All this applies to any telescopic ladder in principle, it is not anything negative regarding this particular product which is likely among the best out there. Just so people know what they are buying into, for most it will be their first experience with this type of ladder, as it was for me.Vane

The RIKADE 8.5FT Telescoping Ladder has been a great addition to my tools. It's lightweight yet sturdy, and the non-slip feet make it feel really stable when in use. The hooks at the top add an extra layer of security, which is great for peace of mind when working on uneven surfaces.

Extending and retracting it is straightforward, though you need to be careful with your fingers when collapsing it. It’s super portable and easy to store, which is perfect for my needs. Whether it’s for small jobs around the house or outdoors, this ladder gets the job done well.

    Definitely worth it!

I ended up LOVING this ladder, but... I didn't get all of the answers I hoped for before buying. So, here are the things I would have wanted to know first:
    - the DEPTH of each step is 1.5"
    - the WIDTH of the widest part of the ladder (bottom support piece) is 18.25"
    - the ladder feels super sturdy
    - the hooks can be turned front or back. Because they can be turned to the back, I don't have to display all of the stickers in the room when someone wants to use the loft. The ladder can be turned around.
    - the "extra steps" (when you don't require it to be extended fully) don't have to sit at the bottom. They can be anywhere. The picture shows them at the top, which is where they will be for the loft bed.
    - I gave 5-stars for light-weight even though it isn't really light. If it were lighter I'd be afraid it wasn't quite so sturdy, so that isn't a factor for me... I think the weight is just right.

There were many aluminum ladders, but I really wanted black so that it would match the accents in the room it will go in. This is a nice satin black finish. I'm super pleased with my purchase! It went on sale for prime days and I couldn't resist. Will post again if it doesn't end up living up to expectations... but for now I think it's perfect for our new high loft ladder.

(P.S. The area the picture shows isn't its' final place.)

This ladder fits my needs perfectly. I have an access point to an attic that is about 15 feet above floor level. The ladder is easy to put up when needed, then slips away for easy storage when not. There is some flex of course. For my 160 lb weight, I find it very acceptable, feeling safe and secure while in use. I intentionally ordered this model, with the pivoting handles on top, which does exactly what I had hoped. While designed as a gutter grip for outdoors, those handles are perfect for offering very secure hand grips when reaching the top of the ladder. In my case I am stepping off the ladder onto a ledge, and those handles make a great difference keeping steady exiting the ladder. One caution that I can not OVERSTRESS is this.... When collapsing the ladder, follow the instructions and be very sure not to have fingers in the way as it disengages. When that thing snaps down, an errant finger or two would not stand a chance if in the crush zone. So think carefully while collapsing the thing, and you'll be golden. It is a very effective and well valued product.

This is bigger and heavier than I imagined or would need for myself but it’s impressive! I bought it because my promaster van group recommended and I liked the hook option to help me get on top of my van’s roof and back down. It seems very sturdy and I like that the hooks can spin so I can use them to hang the ladder in my van or a garage for home use. The hooks are also removable and the product comes with two extra locking mechanisms should one on the ladder break. Another nice feature is that each step locks so you could use it at 3, 5, 7 feet without extending the whole ladder. It collapses rung by rung so no need to worry about smashing fingers. It holds 330lbs and feels very sturdy. I chose this ladder vs a fixed ladder on the van because those cost around $700 and I wont need it for daily use. I spent about $93 which was higher than I wanted but for a sturdy and versatile ladder I’m happy. I chose the black finish because it’ll match my van better and hopefully hook nicely to my roof rack once that is installed.

I climb roofs all day. I weigh just under 200 pounds. At 16 feet (full extension) I get halfway up the ladder and I could easily bend it with a couple bounces if I wanted. Definitely not something you want to be using for tall roofs, but it's an excellent product for those short jobs and it weighs almost nothing compared to other ladders. I throw it in my truck and use it for double pulls and roofs that are 10 feet high or less
