    This comforter is very good quality for a great price. I have another down comforter I've had for 15+ years that I've been reluctant to replace, but it was worth it. There are a few important steps I had to follow once I got it in order to have it fluff up and be ready for the bed:

    1) I put it in the dryer right away after receiving it vacuum packed, on air fluff with 3 tennis balls for about 50 mins. It made a big difference to start. If you have a laundromat nearby with a larger dryer + some tennis balls, this might be the only step you need to do.

    2) I took the time to pull apart clumps in each section, each square. This maybe took 20-30 mins and I just pulled clumps apart and then shook it more to fluff it.

    3) Then I had to leave it to air out for about 5 days. There was a slightly off/fishy smell to it which I was pretty sure just came from feathers being vacuum sealed for so long. I laid it out in a room and had a fan blowing on it, I picked it up by the corners and whipped it a little to fluff it and turned it over once or twice a day.

    This work saved me probably $200, and I find it to be fluffy and warm with plenty of loft, but not too hot. The airflow is good so I don't sweat with it like I do synthetics. I put it in my linen duvet and it feels luxe. Definitely recommend as long as you're up for a little effort. To me it was VERY worth it.

    I completely agree with ALL point made in the top review by Jean-Marie Hendricks. Ditto to her entire review. I received the comforter vacuum sealed and I both manually fluffed it up and left it to lay for 24 hours, then ALSO put it in the dryer on air dry for a full cycle for more fluffing. I've had the comforter for a month and it's nice and fluffy. My only complaint so far is that it is can get very hot. It's the winter and sometimes it can be too hot and I end up sweating. Now this might really be a problem come summertime...but mind you we have a central heating and cooling system so my room on the top level runs very hot always. I don't think it would be a problem if our house had better AC. Anyway I love the fluffiness of the comforter and everything is as advertised as long as you follow the instructions!

    Really like the duvet! Shipped vacuum sealed and fluffed up quickly and easily. Felt very nice…was tempted not to put a cover on it. 10/10 buy again!

    As you can see my dog approves of this and loves to lay on it :) I included pictures of the tags and materials that came with this down comforter.

    Now on to my review which is pretty lengthy but I wanted to cover everything I would want to know. Let’s just face it, down comforters are not a cheap investment so if you’re expecting this to be a 5 star hotel bed experience then this is not for you. I grew up in Germany and have been back to Europe numerous times and have slept under my fair share of down. I’ve slept under better and worse. For the price this comforter is awesome!

    I bought the queen size and it hangs over nicely on the sides and end and gives my husband and I both enough coverage at night (He tends to be a blanket hog). I use a duvet cover and am deliriously happy that I could do away with the top sheet. No more fighting layers at night and pulling all the pieces back together. It takes me about 2 minutes now to make the bed rather than 10. Also this has the corner and side tabs to attach the cover which was a must have for me.

    This fluffed up really nice and is now super puffy. The picture of it laid out on the grass was only about an hour after I took it out of the vacuum sealed packaging. It was already pretty puffy the same evening when I went to bed but took about 2-3 days to fully fluff up. The filling seems to be pretty evenly distributed. There are some squares that have a little more or less but it’s only noticeable when you look really closely.

    Let’s talk about the smell. This is a natural animal product and even though the down is cleaned and sanitized it will retain some of its natural odor. The odor was fairly concentrated upon first opening but dissipated within 24 hours. I air mine out every day weather permitting and have noticed that on high humidity days (50-60%) I can smell the odor a little bit when I first bring it back inside because of the humidity. It goes away again within a couple of hours.

    Any down comforter I’ve ever slept under makes a crinkle noise, it’s just a down thing I think. Some are quieter than others and this one certainly crinkles a lot. I think it is the fabric they use. I have another light weight one by Globon Bedding and it is much quieter but it also cost more than this and has less down in it (14 oz.). In my opinion it is not loud but I am used to the noise it makes and it is kind of comforting to me. If you’ve never slept under a down comforter or have only slept under a really high quality expensive one then it might take some getting used to.

    The fabric is not very soft, I would compare the feeling to a cheap box store comforter. I use a duvet cover on mine so it doesn’t bother me but if you are not planning on using one be prepared for that. Once again my other one is much softer but also came with a higher price tag.

    I live in Vermont and in the summer here on really hot days the temperatures don’t drop much at night. Even with the A/C on this is way too thick and warm. On days where it is in the mid 90’s it rarely gets below 80 at night. If you live somewhere with much cooler nights or are cold a lot than it might work for you even in the summer.

    To sum it up, this may not be perfect but for the price it is a great product which is why I gave it 5 stars. I would certainly recommend this to anyone that can’t or doesn’t want to spend a lot on a down comforter!
