Amanda Gail Aaron has built her career around providing education in her craft, soapmaking. She has taught all over the United States in various classrooms and presents annually at conferences and seminars put on by the handcrafted soap industry’s top guilds and organizations.

In 2008, after learning the craft of soapmaking, Amanda started an educational blog at LovinSoap.com, which features step-by-step full color photographic tutorials, articles, troubleshooting advice and general information about soapmaking. She publishes eZines (online magazines) and eBooks on the topic of soapmaking and has written for industry publications such as Handmade Magazine, Saponifier and Soap Collaborative.

In 2009, she started teaching classes in Dallas and Austin, providing hands-on workshops where students could totally immerse themselves in the craft of soapmaking and confidently learn the craft. Students from all over the United States have attended her hands-on workshops and even a few students have travelled from out of the country to attend!

In 2013 after a heart-moving teaching trip to Haiti to teach a group of women who lived in a tent camp how to make soap, she decided that she would use her love of teaching to help as many women in the same situation as she could. She created a not-for-profit, with her partner Benjamin Aaron, whose aim was to teach women in developing nations the craft and the business of soapmaking - tackling two of poverty’s biggest issues - lack of access to hygiene and lack of economic opportunity for women. The Lovin’ Soap Project is a registered 501(c)(3) and is currently working in Haiti, Uganda, China, India and will continue to expand to other areas where women need opportunity.

~~ A FANTASTIC resource for new and old soap makers! ~~
Did you know that descriptions of soapmaking have been discovered going back to 2200 B.C.? This author has been making her own soap since 2008. FYI none of the recipes contain palm oil.Eight chapters:All About Soapmaking * Essential Equipment and Ingredients * Cold-Process Soapmaking * Hot-Process Soapmaking * Liquid Soapmaking * Melt-and-Pour Soapmaking * Hand-Milling Soap * Finishing TouchesWhat's the difference between all the different types of soap? The author explains them in the first chapter. Lots of cool techniques shared with plenty of pictures! (Pictures are not beside the individual recipes but in the "How To' sections.) If you've wondered how to create swirly soap or even layered soap, it's all in this book!IMPORTANT to note that whilst this book was written for the American market the measurements are all in metric. Whoo hoo! You will need a digital scale as accuracy is very important when making soap. When making soap even the water is weighed! LOVE the way the title of each recipe is highlighted making them so easy to see.As a family who makes their own soap I was interested to see what I would learn from this book. I am happy to report that this book contains a wealth of information along with having a LOT of recipes. We will definitely be referencing back to this for our next soapmaking marathon. At the end of the book you will find measurement conversion charts. This is followed by a recipe index, glossary, resources and indexes. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher. That has not influenced my review with the thoughts and opinions above being my own. Thanks, Liz

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite soap making books👍

Excellent book! Easy to follow instructions and lots of useful information. I particularly like the essential oil mixing for soaps. I followed the book and made two soaps (one CP and one HP soap), and both of them came out beautifully and smell SO nice!! There are also ebooks, classes and freebies in her website.
I read some people's comments about the book shouldn't be called "natural" when using alcohol for transparent soaps. Unfortunately, I tried the non-alcohol way and failed. Total waste of oils and efforts. It has to be done with alcohol if you want to make clear soap.
Anyways, it is a great all in one soapmaking book for someone who would like get to know more about different methods of making soaps, or exploring ideas and soap recipes.
