I ordered this for various reasons and have used it 3 times since it arrived (delivered about 36 hours after I ordered it). The bottle looks like it will last a very long time if you stick to 3 or 4 sprays a day so looks good value for money.

According to the literature, magnesium deficiency can result in all manner of ailments and loss of function. My intention was to support weight loss, testosterone production, lowering anxiety and other such issues. I'm sure that will all come in time as I continue with my wellness plan.

What I was not anticipating was the sudden relief I have experienced from chronic pain. In the 3 days since I started applying this spray I have experienced a roughly 90% reduction in my long term chronic shin pain, which I have always thought was shin splints due to the long distance running & 30 mins daily skipping I did as a fighter in my teens and twenties. I certainly didn't buy this product to treat that pain so it is very welcome bonus. I haven't done anything different than I've been doing for the last 6 weeks so I can only conclude this reduction in pain is due to the magnesium as I'm certain my chronic shin pain didn't spontaneously disappear for no reason.

Reports suggest that reversing deficiencies like magnesium & zinc (if you have been eating a poor diet lacking in minerals) can take several weeks or even months so I am hoping I will continue to experience improvements as I replenish the magnesium that was lacking from my diet.

If, like me, you haven't been eating lots of foods rich in magnesium for most of your adult life and are suffering pain you might consider trying this stuff. A couple of sprays and rub it in (I am applying after I come out of the shower in the hope that improves absorption) and a minor itch for half an hour is all it takes.

I'll update my review when I've had more time to assess the results

Get an excellent night sleep using this on my feet
  • Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 March 2024
On the positive side, this spray really works for aiding sleep. Sprayed on the soles of your feet, transdermal magnesium seems to work more quickly than an ingested form for me. On the odd occasion where I do forget to apply this, I notice a real difference in how refreshed I feel when I wake up.

On the negative side, if you have sensory issues, I would steer well clear of this product. It is sticky and slow to absorb, which in turn makes your bedsheets feel claggy. It can sting so badly you get red patches on your skin, and the salt content dries out your feet within a couple of weeks. I have tried to find ways around some of this by applying it, waiting 20 minutes and then wiping off the excess, but this is adding in a level of faff to my evening routine that I don't really want when I can just take tablets instead.

I bought this oil for my aged Uncle who in his eighties had somehow damaged both knees and could barely walk. I told him how to apply this oil and what to expect. He was a bit sceptical at first but weeks later he has improved so much - and at the same time feels better than he has in years!! His pain all over, but primarily at the site of application i.e. his knees, is much dimished and he is more energetic and happier than he has been in years. Those of you who know of the Magnesium deficiencies we all suffer and what it is that Magnesium does for the body, can fully appreciate how it is that he feel so much better (touching wood so as not to tempt a relapse!). His only complaint being that the oil can be a bit sticky - but after 30 minutse it can be washed off if required having done most of its absorbtion in this time. However despite the stickiness it does not stain clothes so it can be used with confidence. I would thoroughly recommend this oil to anyone in any physical pain (or who just wants to improve how energetic they feel). You will not believe how well it works. I just have to get my Uncle to take sodium bicarbonate and Nascent Iodine daily now - then he would feel amazing! He is already on high doses of Vit D3 *(Thanks to Jeff T Bowles - you must read his e-book) and it all seems to be doing what it should. I think this just goes to show it is never to late to improve your way of life and how you feel. So go ahead and try it! Thsi is the purest form of Magnesium oil you can get and I would recommend this to anyone.

I liked it because it sprays on and is light not greasy. Sometimes it can tingle a bit. It does seem to be very effective, a great way to allow your body to absorb adequate magnesium.

I never write reviews, but this is a must review for everyone out there looking for a remedy for painful joints, arthritis and acute gout disease! This oil is a miracle! I have recently started having so much pain on my hands, feet and elbow bones and joints, I am a graphic designer and could hardly work - only 34 years old. The painful bits were also swollen, had a burning sensation and not even very strong painkillers could help me. I found this remedy online, and omg it has worked wonders! The first day I used it about 4 times on the spots were it was hurting, there is a tingling sensation which for a while might seem more painful, but give it 20 minutes and the pain literally disappears. I could still feel it swollen, but it worked almost like an anaesthetic. Second and third day - I only used it 2 times in the whole day, less tingling, and more relief. Today is day 5 and I have not used it at all, because it doesn't hurt at all!! I have been struggling for the last two months, every single day, and this has just changed my life so rapidly. Day five and no swelling, no pain and no discomfort - I don't know how it does it but it's been a life saviour. Everyone with same problems should try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ocean Breeze Magnesium in Colorado Country
Reviewed in the United States on 4 September 2010
The media could not be loaded.
As Dr. Mark Sircus' web site video implies to me, if we could swim regularly in the ocean we would likely have less if any need to shore up vitally needed magnesium in human health maintenance systems. According to many medical professionals [including Dr. Sircus] exposing a growing number of magnesium deficiencies, transdermal magnesium oil can be of vital assistance for absorbing this life maintaining mineral. Dr. Sircus recommends the ANCIENT MINERALS brand, which is offered on this Amazon page. [See his landmark book, Transdermal Magnesium Therapy]

I've noticed some curiosity expressed here about the price difference and possible quality or strength difference between ANCIENT MINERALS/Genuine Zechstein mag oil [for sale on this Amazon buying page] vs. SWANSON ULTRA/Zechstein Inside, Magnesium Oil 8 fl oz (237 ml) Spray. *[My review on the Swanson Ultra Amazon page gives a personal, detailed endorsement of any pure magnesium chloride brine used transdermally. Please feel free to read that and apply its contents to both of these offerings.]

I've recently purchased and tried this Ancient Mineral brand. It appears to me to be equal to the Swanson Ultra offering, yet I have detected a difference, by taste, as noted in this video review. The pricing at this time of posting this review, on each of these potentially lifesaving products, in an 8 oz spray bottle, is:
-- $29 free shipping Ancient Minerals
    -- $9 + $5 shipping = $14 Swanson Ultra

Both indicate that they are supersaturated solutions of magnesium chloride brine water from the ancient Zechstein Seabed. I believe they are. I don't know if one is a stronger solution than the other. Here are some of the factors I looked at which might relate here:

    1. I have read on the Ancient Minerals web site that they believe it is acceptable to make your own brine water from the magnesium flakes from the Zechstein seabed. I was honestly pleased to read that because I do make and use my own solution from the flakes [though I can't make it as super saturated as AM could, won't be able to test contents, and I use tap water].

    2. I have read on the Zechstein Minerals mine site that they cannot recommend making your own brine water from the flakes, due to a few trace residuals which come through from the breakdown, evaporation process of obtaining flakes from the mined brine solution. Included in that list, in bare trace amounts at a parts per million level [which the site says are not hazardous], are magnesium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide chloride, and some hydrochloric acid in the vapor stream. I recommend visiting their web site to read about this. I appreciated this information, especially the list of residuals, so I can make up my mind whether I'm concerned about them in my case.

    3. According to an interesting, helpful discussion topic I read on a web site [CureZone] ANCIENT MINERALS invests time and resources to test each batch they sell of mg brine water, providing a list of the solution content including trace elements. I've checked the AM web site and seen this batch test results list for April 28, 2009. Also, from text included on my spray bottle of AM mg oil, this appreciated information is included: 8 sprays = approx 100 mg elemental magnesium. I've also read and recommend the Magnesium for Life web site, which offers quite a bit of interesting information. I've watched some excellent videos made by Dr. Mark Sircus on his web site, and on YouTube.

One thing which stands out in my mind from all this is a comment Dr. Sircus made about wanting to know the precise contents in each batch of mg chloride brine, even that which comes from the Zechstein site. Sircus said, to this effect, "You shouldn't trust what someone else says about that." That seemed to me like a wise assessment which was probably backed by experience. Taking this type of care gives extra costs which must be covered and which I'm willing to pay.

However, I also understand why Swanson's medical spokesperson, Dr. Barbara Hensen, living closer to the Netherlands mine site, seems to be comfortably familiar with the Zechstein mining people and process. I can see why she and Swanson trust the product they receive from that mining process. I've formed an intuitive opinion for myself, and given the background provided in my review on the Swanson Ultra mag oil buying page here on Amazon:

I believe that for me, both these two magnesium oil products [and possibly others I haven't investigated] are of excellent value in shoring up human nutrition and deficiencies. I will continue to buy and use both of them.

I will likely continue to use the highest volume of the Swanson products due to their ability to offer such excellent pricing, yet I will always keep on hand a parallel bottle of the Ancient Minerals spray as well. As I have done with SWANSON and will continue to do, I want to support ANCIENT MINERALS and its supporters; they've proven their integrity to me, and web sites from both these companies have given invaluable information.

Companies like these two, and their people and medical professional sponsors, are God Sends to me. I appreciate them more than I can say, along with their willingness to work with Amazon to get their vital products to a larger marketplace, which includes me.

My eternal thanks to Amazon, Swanson, and Ancient Minerals,

    Linda Shelnutt
