Like many people that have commented here, I have had Merrell shoes, sandals and boots for year. They are my 'go-to' buy.The soles are usually the 1st to go.However although I have had these shoes for just 2 years, I noticed that after one year the plastic around the toe area started to rip.I work all day in work boots, so they don't get used much, mainly weekends. I'm not impressed at these. They are my 2nd pair of continuum, the 1st lasting many years. Both pairs were made in Vietnam.I was recently in a charity shop and seen for sale a unused pair for sale, labelled, made in China. The plastic seems much stronger than the ones I purchased from amazon, the stitching inside seems to be more complete, compared to the amazon purchased shoe. Not impressed with the Amazon purchased shoes.

I prefer wearing a shoe to wearing a boot for hiking or short walks. I have a similar pair that I still use before buying this particular shoe as I wanted to compare them. Both have very good features. I went for a half size up on this shoe as someone recommended it and to my suprise these shoes are a good fit , slight pinching on my right toe otherwise very comfortable. Lower support and protection ideal, solid with comfort and upper strong and breathable so an expensive shoe but well worth the price.

I've bought these to go treking in the Amazon, after receiving, I'm not sure I want to ruin them.

As others have said, they come up small, I'm normally an 8, these are a very snug fit, to the point I've seriously considered sending back for a larger size. but the difference was in mm, not a size or even a half size.

I decided to risk it, and I've walked a few miles in them and there is a little stretch, they're now perfect.

I really like the design, its much better in hand than in pictures and I'm really impressed with the materials and construction. They feel rugged and solid. And unlike most sneakers and walking shoes, they have excellent arch support.

They are quite narrow and especially narrow around the toe, I have a narrow foot so its not too much of an issue for me, but those with wider feet might not get on with them.

They are very comfortable on the whole, but could do with more support at the ankles, you can easily twist on rough terrain.

All in all a very good product I would recommend.

Merrell for me, were the go to brand for a walking shoe
Sadly not anymore these lasted 6 months then a tare occured on the outside foot near the little toe.
They were more comfortable then my go to merrells the moab 2. These have increased vastly in price since buying them a year ago and i wouldnt buy them if they were the original price i brought them at if i had the chance again

Seems like the vibram souls have also had that change in production and materials too as they jist dont seem to wear as hard. Sad to say im nit looking at merrell for my next walking shoe
They are not waterproof ligjter than a moab 2 though
