UPDATE: wheel broke after 8 months. Capacious, but very poor lock visibility
Pros:+ largest capacity allowed for carry-on by most airlines+ dual-wheel casters glide well+ expandableCons:- A front wheel broke off after 18 flights and a couple ferries/cruises. Had to drag the suitcase about a kilometer out of the airport until I could get a car.- The combination lock digits are stupid small and VERY hard to see in normal to low light.Minor cons:- too large for some airlines (got it rejected by GOL in Brazil, and it was not expanded)- flimsy telescopic handle, but it works- left compartment flap zipper only comes from one side (most suitcases have a double zipper)- got scuffed easily after several flights, but for the price, who cares

I really like this luggage! It is sleek and expensive looking, holds a lot of items, rolls VERY easily, and has proven to be quite durable.

We bought two of the 25 inch and one of the smaller carry on size for a trip to China. I was worried about making the switch from soft sided luggage we have always used to hard shell bags but after 15,000 plus miles over 17 days I am happy I did. All three bags were loaded on at least 8 different flights, half a dozen taxi's, onto three trains, a high speed bullet train, several buses, 3 or 4 airport terminal trains, a ferry...rolled over miles of airport terminals, train stations, up and down more stairs then I can remember...jammed into car trunks and opened and inspected by customs at least 4 or 5 times that I know of. They got a few scuffs of course but still look great.

At least 10 different people commented on how nice the bags look and a woman actually asked if she could take a picture to show her husband...of our luggage. I am serious.

They hold a lot of "stuff" also. So much so that the clothes looked a lot better when removed then they normally do. We also had quite a bit of extra space in the carry on for the inevitable travel "bloat" type items we bought on the trip. We did not have to ever use the expansion zippers but I did try them out a few times just to see how they work and them seem well thought out and sturdy as well.

The wheels really do roll well, and stacking a messenger type bag and coats etc. on top of each case turns them into very handy carts. I Did enjoy rolling by the $2.00 a pop cart rentals =) and if needed for curbs or pavement markers (China has a tone of these in public buildings for the vision impaired) you can tilt the luggage onto two wheels like older style bags if needed. The wheels are good enough that if your on a slight slope the bags can get away from you if you let them go.

The pull out handles are strong enough for the task and slide in and out MUCH better then the ones on our old bags. They are also well integrated into the cases so that they don't seem to take up a lot of room inside the bags. The regular carry handles are one of the few less then perfect parts of these bags. The handles are the retractable type designed to fit flush to the case when not being used and they are a bit hard to pull away from the bag enough to get your fingers around them. Once you are used to it you just give them a good tug out and your fine, but cabbies and hotel people always seemed to just grab the pull out handle and use that. On balance I would rather have the carry handles retract tightly to the case and be a bit hard to use rather then hanging out to get caught on luggage handling conveyors and the bag ripped open. I think they might also relax a bit over time.

The other less then perfect point on the carry handles is that they are closer to one side then the other because the bags essentially split into two equal halves when you open them, so when you first use the handles the bags feel a bit one sided weight wise--you get accustomed to it pretty fast so not a huge deal, and I am not sure they could have placed them any differently from a design and engineering perspective.

The locks are very well thought out and work perfectly.

Other then the very minor things I mentioned about the carry handles my wife and I simply love these bags. They are well made, well designed, hold more then enough stuff, roll very well, have a great pull out handle, and look amazing.

I am comparing the Delsey 21" carry on to a soft side Travelpro Maxlite 5 21" spinner.

The Travelpro has served me well and shows very little wear with all of the flights it has been on. The Travelpro has been checked a few times but the intent of carry on luggage is to carry it on the airplane with me.

The Travelpro is significantly less weight than the Delsey but, that is to be expected with hard vs soft luggage. The Delsey is not prohibitively heavy.

External physical size: The Delsey is very slightly wider than the Travelpro but the side handle of the Travelpro makes this a wash. Height wise they are very close to each other. Width, also very close. The Delsey is more square while the Travelpro is tapered at the top.

Internal size: Here is where the Delsey shines. I don't know how they do it but the internal space of the Delsey is far superior to the Travelpro. I can easily fit a week of clothing plus toiletries in the Delsey with room to spare and it's not expanded. The same items in the Travelpro and it is full but also not expanded. For reference I packed the following into each suitcase for a 2 week trip with a laundry day. Sizes are mens XL for reference.
6 pair of light weight outdoor hiking/travel pants.
    7 under armor tech t-shirts.
    7 pair of underwear.
    7 pair of socks.
4 long sleeve Under Armor tech shirts.
1 pair of light weight jogging type pants.
1 pair of running shorts and t-shirt.
Toiletries for a week (I don't pack light here).
Liquids and gels bag (also do not pack light here - FULL quart'ish size travel bag).
The Travelpro was full with about a 6x6x3" space to fit any extras I purchased on the trip.
The Delsey was less than full with nothing "stuffed" to fit; I could certainly fit more items on top of what was packed. Additionally, I had the entire width and depth of one side about 4" wide that was empty space.

Side by side the Delsey does have the appearance of being bigger than the Travelpro. In use and wheeling onto an airplane, it will not get a second look.

Stability when fully packed seems to be a wash. I've never had an issue with the Travelpro wanting to tip over.

Rolling on smooth surfaces through an airport is a wash. Both seem to roll and track well. They are equally easy to tip onto 2 wheels instead of 4 for uneven surfaces or when you have to walk/run to a gate.

Handle stability, nod to the Travelpro. The Travelpro has very slightly less wiggle and operates more smoothly than the Delsey. Handles are always a pet peeve for me and the Delsey does not give me joy to expand the handle. We will see long term how much this annoys me. So far the space in the bag has offset this minor annoyance.

Durability: It's a hard side bag, it is going to show smudges and scratches. The soft side Travelpro has some stains and smudges on it from the few times it was checked. None of this bothers me, it's luggage not a going out on the town outfit. As long as the inside is clean and protected, I don't care what the outside looks like.

I was so impressed with the 21" Delsey that I bought the 19" for my shorter trip carry on. The 19" Delsey holds as much or more than the 21" Travelpro.

The carryon is sturdy and well made. It looks sleek and there’s nothing cheap about it. My only concern is that it’s a bit bigger than most carryons, and some airlines may not allow it onboard. Still, I took it onboard and it fitted inside the overhead without any problem. So far it has held up well during my first trip.

This is a super suitcase and hit all the right notes. It was our first spinner and with 4 wheels and honestly I love it when things work and my style is to keep buying the same thing over and over. This is the case. My 12 year old used this for our first cruise and it was excellent. I bought the next size up and loved that size too and actually will buy 2 more this year for my wife and daughter! My Mom even asked for one for Christmas! It's a simplet design, works well and you can use a magic eraser to wipe all the marks off after your trip. This was my first hard case and I will buy for now on!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly tested and lived out of for a month on the rails... without doubt, the BEST suitcase.
Reviewed in Canada on August 13, 2017
These have got to be the absolute best hard-case trolleys on the market! My wife and I took a pair of these on the rails across the country for an entire month. Traveling in economy by Via Rail, these incredibly durable cases were a lifesaver, no matter how hard a beating we gave them, from Vancouver to Halifax, they hardly showed any damage at all by the end of a month well worn in (in the titanium colour, even some of the worst scratches we gave them didn't show up much, see pictures)! We dragged them up the hills of Grandville island, pulled them through med in Jasper, crashed them into streetcar tracks in Toronto (the trick is to pull them like a trad-style suitcase across big bumps, then switch back to spinner-mode to roll beside you when you're walking down the sidewalk again... only took us three crashes to figure that out), clanged them through the cobblestones of the Old Port in Montreal, raked through the rocks in Halifax's harbour, then brought them all the way back home in fully functional condition for another trip to come.

And then there's the organization, when you live out of your suitcase for any extended period of time, especially a month on the rails, you need to be able to carry a lot of stuff but be able to access it all easily and quickly without having everything fall everywhere in the process. The Helium Aero delivers flawlessly here, it's got so much organization we actually had extra space after our first attempt packing, and as you get to know its many organizational pockets, straps and pouches better throughout your trip, somehow you end up taking up less space as you go on. And then if you need some extra space for souvenirs there's no need to hold back! It's zippered accordion expander may not sound like much, but when you finally open it half way through your trip because of the overwhelming accumulation of model lighthouses, Montreal maple syrup, Jasper carabiner mugs, etceteras, etceteras, etceteras... there always happens to be enough room for one more tchotchke to-go!

My wife and I cannot stress enough how amazing these suitcases are. Having taken them the long hard way from coast to coast we highly recommend these tanks of the luggage world!
