- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2025Style: Split-HoodVerified PurchaseI love the design and the quality is really high for the price of the product. For a litter box, it's a great price, and I think a higher quality of materials used than other more expensive boxes.
The only thing is, I'm not sure what my cats have against hooded litter boxes. Getting a clear top was my attempt to convince them to use a hooded litter box, but they absolutely refused to use it until I took the hood off entirely.
I don't have large cats, my cats are actually pretty small compared to other cats (fully grown). They just don't enjoy a litter experience in an enclosed space. I will say, this is not a litter box for large cats, but if you have a smaller cat who doesn't mind using a hooded box, this product will change the lives of both you and your cat(s)!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2015Style: Split-HoodVerified PurchaseI purchased 2 of these litter boxes in September 2014 as I had been hunting for an affordably priced hooded box with a slightly larger footprint than the typical store-found ones. They have worked well since, but I won't be purchasing them again for 2 reasons:
* There is an 1" or so track that runs the base of the box, meaning the center of the box is higher than the edges. Anyone whom owns a cat knows that the edges are where they typically pee. It makes cleaning the box thoroughly hard as my scoop cannot get into the rounded corners to effectively scrape out the dirty litter from the track.
* The top does not lock onto the base. Not normally a big issue, but because the tops slide off so easily, my male has occasionally dislodged the top, scared himself, and then freaked out, tossing the top across the bathroom in his attempt to get free. He's not especially large or awkward-he's the usual 12 pound DMH-but this has happened a handful of times.
Other than that, it's a sturdy box made with good plastic, the lid is flat enough that it's an additional surface for those in small apartments for whom space is at a premium, and it holds litter. The translucent lid obscures if you haven't scooped in the last day or two, and the blue base is a nice dark color and easily hosed down.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2024Style: Split-HoodVerified PurchaseI bought 2 of these litter boxes and like them better than the more expensive one I have. It’s light weight, easy to clean ,even with “ recesses “ of which I find NO problem. There are no latches to undo and the lid is flat which my kittens enjoy sitting on.
It’s inexpensive, very deep and large enough for my three rescue kittens. If I need another one I would definitely buy this one again..

- Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2023Style: Split-HoodVerified PurchaseI got this litter box because it had a transplant lid and my cat has anxiety especially around the other cats scaring her in the box. This is smaller than it appears and is extremely difficult to clean because it has so many corners inside. I used it for 2 weeks before ultimately replacing it with something better.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2024Style: Split-HoodVerified PurchaseIf you want a litter box designed by someone who has obviously never scooped a litter box before, this is the one for you. A litter box doesn't need "recessed" edges or "sturdy feet", particularly in the way these are designed. The troughs along the inside edge just collect urine and clumps everything to the sides and bottom, making it harder and more time consuming to scoop. That issue is further exacerbated by the idiotic "feet" that stick UP into the litter box, so you have to dig around in the corners with the corner of the scoop to try and get any litter out of there because you can't fully scroop along the bottom. The door/flap is flimsy and practically useless, especially considering the lid does not lock to the base. A larger cat would probably take the lid right off climbing out of this box. Look elsewhere, preferably something designed by someone who has actually seen a litter box before.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2024Style: Split-HoodVerified PurchaseI have a 9lb Tabby she has a problem kicking litter out of litter boxes. The helps keep the area clean, gives her a bit more privacy and pretty deep. Easy to clean and maintain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable, and worth the price.
Style: Split-HoodVerified PurchaseRecently moved into a studio apartment with two cats. One is ancient and pretty gentle when using the litter box, but the other is relatively young and likes to dart around the room going mach speeds before digging tunnels in the litter box as a ritual before relieving herself. This ritual, with the open litter box we had before this one, caused litter to trail from the litter box in the restroom all the way to the front door. Don't even get me started on the state of the floor just around the box itself. I had to sweep twice daily if I didn't want litter clinging to my feet as well as upkeep the litter box just as often if I didn't want the smell to swarm the restroom every time I walked in. A litter mat didn't work well enough to keep anything contained, so I figured a hooded litter box might do the trick, and this one certainly did.
For the litter box itself, there's no way to fasten the hood to the box, but that isn't an issue for me. I like just plucking the hood up when I have to go in to scoop, plus, my cats aren't chonkers and hop in and out of the opening quite easily. (If your cat is on the bigger side, this litter box might not be for you.) On that note, I got this litter box specifically for the dimensions as it sits in a cubby space in the restroom or else I would've gone with IRIS's jumbo litter box. It's not big by any means, so again, if your cat is on the bigger side, this one isn't for you.
Another tid-bit is the ridges on the box itself. Our old open litter box was flat all along the bottom and sides, which made scooping easy. However, this one isn't entirely flat. It also has curves and slits along the box's walls which make it a bit difficult to tidy up, but not overly exerting if you have a scooper that can get into the crevices.
As for the door, I haven't gotten to test it entirely yet as I've taped it open for the time being just to allow the cats to have time to adjust to the new box. But if there's anything of note to it, it's probably that once I fastened it to the hood, I was a bit nervous to take it back out because the hinges are pretty much thin plastic rods that snap onto the hood, and I was worried they would break if I kept bending them as I took the door on and off. Hence, why I just decided to tape it open.
Overall, very worth the money I paid for it. Now I usually sweep once a day if I'm feeling up to it and I can put more litter into the box itself without any fear of our cat scooping it back out in her craze. With this, plus the mat I have placed at the opening of the box, handling the litter box has become much more tolerable. Plus, the litter box is nice to look at.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cat loves it and so do we
Style: Split-HoodVerified PurchaseVery easy to set up - came in 3 pieces: bottom, lid, and door attached. I took off the door and reattached it to make sure it was correctly aligned and it's never fallen off. The box is in a corner so don't have any issues with the lid being loose or coming off. It's a deeper than normal box so lots of room for our cat to dig ans for us to put in a pad and liner. No odours from the cat box and very little litter escapes. A litter mat near the entrance catches all the residual litter from our Kitty's paws. Would recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars The hinged door fell off as soon as the cat entered the litter box
Style: Split-HoodVerified PurchaseThe bottom should be smooth with no ledge. The door should be stronger. It would be nice if it came with a metal scoop.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's roomy.
Style: Split-HoodVerified PurchaseI love the litter box but I had an issue with the packaging. Very sticky and strong packing tape was used to hold top and bottom together for shipping. The tape was very hard to remove and left a really sticky residue behind, damaging the shiny finish. I would suggest that the company use a tape that leaves no residue behind in the future. Perhaps they aren't even aware of this issue, so I thought I'd mention it. Otherwise, a great litter box.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not large
Style: Split-HoodVerified PurchaseThis is definitely not large or jumbo. I would say this is a normal size litter box. If you have big cats, this is not going to work.
