Huge and not so sturdy

Huge and not so sturdy
I love this cage it’s great for my 2 budgies. It’s HUGE! Only real problem I have is the containers. They have a cover for it so the food doesn’t spill, but it looks more of “this is my container and mine only no sharing” kind of message to the other birds. The toys are even acceptable. Minor things but pretty good cage.

Bought this for my cockatiel to give him a little more space, and this cage was the perfect size. The cage isn’t very strong and the wires bend easily, but for a well behaved bird it works just fine. It doesn’t have a large swing-open door like most cages do, so it’s a little harder to clean, but it has several small doors for the bird.

I bought this as a temporary set up for my cockatiel while I stay with a family member. The cage is a great size and comes with several accessories (toys, 4 food dishes, perches) that are of cheap quality but appreciated. The wiring is a little flimsy and it took a little less than an hour to assemble and sand down the rough parts. Had to readjust several times because it’s not clear where to hook the wires, but figured it out by myself. My bird seems to like scaling up and down the wires and I appreciate the height. Overall decent product for price compared to the other options on Amazon.

I originally bought this cage for my new budgie/parakeet, Nemi, as a first time bird parent. As I've done more research, consulted long time bird owners and vets, I've actually switched to a different cage for reasons stated below. It's still a decent cage and I will most likely still use this cage as a hospital cage or a quarantine cage for new birds.

Not to say it is a bad cage by any means. It has good reviews, some of which I agree with.
-It's fairly easy to assemble, though you may need some zip ties to lock up some of the more loose sections of the cage that morph as a result from shipping.
-The cost/effectiveness of the cage is top tier. Fantastic price with prime shipping for a medium sized cage is really attractive to first time owners, and gives you a much lower starting price to actually getting your little guy.
-It comes with toys, which is always a nice little bonus. Though the toys provided and not great for budgies or most small birds because of how hard and not shred-able they are. Some birds may like them though.
-The removable bottom, while standard for most cages, is still something to point out for being nice and convenient. Though taking out/cleaning the grate above the removable section is an absolute pain to do with the small doors of the cage.

Now for the downsides which I have plenty of and which may or may not factor into your personal shopping decision:
-The biggest one is the dimensions of the cage. Budgies fly horizontally and need a cage that is wider than it is tall. If you expect your bird to fly for fun rather than the occasional navigating between perches in this cage, you will most likely be disappointed. You will see climbing the sides more than anything. Also something to consider, birds prefer to be higher in the cage to feel safe, so 90% of their time will be spent in the upper half of the cage.
-The doors to the cage are very small and do not have a locking mechanism. This is a criticism for those, like me, who have big hands. You will need to squeeze your hands on all but 2 of the doors that are slightly bigger than the other 2. The doors themselves will, also, not hold themselves open and you will need to buy 3rd party cage door holders. Which sounds like it wouldn't be a problem, but it definitely gets annoying after a while.
-Dowel Perches. This is not so much a criticism of the cage, as most all cages provide them, but just a heads up. Don't use dowel perches. They make it so birds only use one part of their foot over and over when perching which gives them foot disease.
-Roofed Top. This is only a slight criticism, but I just thought I'd mention it. The roofed top provides you no benefit whatsoever and only makes it a pain when hanging toys. Also, if you are planning on using a blind/cover, prepare for it to fit extremely awkwardly over the slopped roof.

Overall, I think it is a decent cage that provides a solid, low start-up cost for first-time bird owners, but that has a series of little flaws that will, most likely, eventually push people toward looking for a more long-term cage.

I have 3 parakeets living in it and they seem to be happy! The ladder, perch, and the toy that came with it are still favorites of these birdies. Well made. Easy to detach the base so that it can be cleaned very easily. The only thing to consider is that this cage is tall, not wide - and I read in certain blogs that parakeets rather be in wide cages than in taller ones, which allows them to fly a bit. Well - mine seems very happy in this cage, and I let them fly inside my room for once or twice a week - and they all come back inside the cage after they are done flying - which tells me they don't dislike the cage at all :)

use pliers to finish an assembly job, good home for our birds.
  • Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2021
Cage is flimsy and not wel built. Nothing lined up. We literally had to have two people pushing and pulling and another to use needle nose pliers to twist the tabs down and in place. There were some tabs that were sharp and sticking out, we were afraid our bird would hurt himself on those so we had to sandpaper the down and they to bend them out of the way. The bowls that cane with it are awful and useless, our parakeet didn't like them at all so we ended up buying new ones. The top and sides keep popping loose to the point we have had to use zip ties to keep it together... SAVE YOUR MONEY and look for a different product.
