Turning the pizza: You need to take the pizza out of the oven to turn it every 5 seconds or so or it will burn.

Never pull out the pizza stone when it is hot, this will cause it to crack with the quick temp changes. Allow it to cool completely before pulling it out to clean.

      Update 6 months later:
      Despite an encouraging start I don't think we will get much more use out of this oven I'm afraid.

      We've had a lot of goes now, with a lot of trial and error, but we usually end up disappointed / frustrated and wish we'd just ordered from the local pizza restaurant instead.

      While I'm sure these ovens "can" cook a delicious pizza under exactly the right conditions, there are just too many variables to count on reliable results. We normally make our own dough using strong flour and have tried various brands and recipes. Also tried out the frozen balls. Tried cooking in the winter (when we first got the oven) and over the Spring and into summer. And got a laser heat thermometer to make sure the stone was up to the recommended temperature (@450). Also watched loads of youtube vids on how to use it.

      But really, it's all still hit or miss if you get a nice or even edible dinner. And you have to constantly top up the pellets to keep it going. Maybe a gas burner would achieve better more consistent results? I don't know, but our oven is slowly making its way to to the dark corner of the garden where the rusty old bikes and broken flower pots live.

      A real shame because we had such high hopes for this :(

      We've been after a pizza oven for a couple of years, but the main brand was just too expensive to justify. So when I spotted this in a black friday deal, and going by the other rave reviews, figured it was worth a go.

      The quality seems much better than I expected. Stainless steel and still bright and shiny after a few winter months. We've used it @ 6 times so far and the results have been mixed. There's definitely a bit of skill / learning curve involved to get the best out of it.

      It gets up to temperature (hotter than the sun) in about 20 mins and really does cook your pizza in about 60 secs. Honestly, it's so quick, you do have to keep checking on it / turning your pizza to avoid it turning into a charred crisp. We had issues sliding the pizza off the peel at first, with the topping sliding onto the bottom of the oven and the base left behind on the peel! A small dusting of flour / semolia on the peel sorted that out.

      Looking forward to some warmer weather when we can experiment some more, but the results so far have been very encouraging :) Even stuck some chicken tikka pieces in the furnace on a tray - @ 4 mins and it was perfect tandoori style chicken.

      I'd coveted a pizza oven for years, but they always seemed to be in the £250 - £300 bracket, which I couldn't really justify spending. Then I saw the Big Horn which cost less than £150 and had really good reviews - so I bought one...and have loved it ever since!

      The quality of the pizzas after just a minute or two cooking is exceptional - like from a proper pizzeria. I've not bothered with an infrared thermometer to check if the pizza stone is hot enough - just wait until you see flames coming out of the chimney and you're good to go! We've had a few pizza parties over the summer, and our friends and family have been extremely impressed.

      The only slight niggle is keeping the pellets topped up to maintain the heat, but I suspect this is the same with any pellet fired pizza oven - and there's something infinitely more satisfying cooking with wood rather than gas!

      I would definitely highly recommend.

      Easy to use. Heats up fast, cooks incredibly quickly. Friends who own an Ooni say this is better.
      Can’t think of a negative other than it uses a lot of pellets but I’m sure all ovens are the same as they get very hot and need a lot of fuel

      I got this as birthday gift for family member. And, thus, I could also enjoy the output, food! And, Here are pros and cons if you are considering to buy

      Pros
      1) for beginner, not easy to fire inside of such small metal box
      2) you should buy special wood or, it would not work. Need to spend more money
      3) sadly, the special/small wood does not get fire easily and we ended up using charcoal (double work)
      4) disaster if your pizza dough stuck on the stone plate. whole thing will get burnt
      5) someone who cooks CANNOT do anything else once you put the rough inside the metal container. Must keep eye on.. it burn quickly and cook unevenly otherwise

      cons
      1) with such higher temperature than other oven, taste is very fresh and crispy crust
      2) family fun and you can use your kids' little hand. they loves to make dough and watch how to cook
      3) handy and locate in anywhere

      overall, I would buy and gift to someone else if there is a chance. Good price and huge fun

      After having friends with an Ooni oven, I took a chance with the Bighorn to save a few dollars. To keep this short, lets just say that this thing has outperformed my friends' ovens and become one of my favourite things to use outdoors. Simple to use, makes amazing pizza fast, the wood fired taste and smell is astounding, and an amazingly SOLID Stainless steel build makes this a must have. I have taken this thing all over in travels and it folds up perfectly and never fails.

      As well ... the company has the most amazing customer service! I was stupid enough to be using this outside in a -30 Canadian winter, and left the unit outside overnight after I was done using it. Sadly, due to my own error of letting this go from several hundred degrees Fahrenheit to minus 30 degrees Celsius, the pizza stone cracked. I contacted the company and within two days they shipped me a new stone free of charge!

      I would highly recommend this unit to anyone who asks, and the company has gained my full support in all respects. Grad yourself this oven, along with a pizza peel, and a Digital thermometer and get started making the best pizzas you'll ever make. Just writing this review is making me hungry for another pizza out of this beauty! I'd pay money just to smell the pizzas coming out of the oven! There are people who convert to propane with this, but I'd stick with the pellets to get the full experience and flavour. A few trial runs or questions asked to someone who owns one (heck ... feel free to message me if you need to) and you'll be knocking pizzas right out of the park.

      DON'T HESITATE! GET THIS NOW! ... and no I havent been paid to say this... it is really that good.

      Zum Ofen selbst:
      Der Aufbau gestaltet wirklich so sehr einfach, hätte ich nie gedacht. Ofen entnehmen, Füße ausklappen.
      Dann den Nachfüllstutzen montieren - zwei Kreuzschrauben ohne Mutter - easy.
      Aschemulde einschieben und oben drüber die Brennkammer einschieben, FERTIG!!!!

      Das der Ofen dann auch noch so super verarbeitet ist, grandios. Keine, wirklich keine scharfen Kanten. Der Ofen und Klappe ist doppelwandig. Nichts am Ofen klappert oder ist wackelig.

      Dann zum Praxistest:
      Pellets eingefüllt (reine Pellets aus Hartholz, BBQ. Ich würde hier keine billigen Heizpellets nehmen aufgrund der Klebereste und Co --> unsaubere Verbrennung und nicht gesund). Pellets entzündet, aber nur die ersten paar Zentimeter. Hierfür am besten ein Bunsenbrenner o.ä. verwenden. Die restlichen Pellets ziehen dann selbständig durch, bei geöffneter Klappe vorn und am Nachfüllstutzen. Sobald der Ofen so leicht in Fahrt kommt schließe ich beide Klappen und er zieht sofort zügig durch. Am Besten an den hochschlagenden Flammen am Schornstein zu sehen (siehe Video).

      Das Thermometer ist leider nicht im Lieferumfang enthalten und habe ich extra erworben und montiert. Hierzu ist in meinem Profil auch eine Rezension zu finden. Wenn die Temperatur passt (ca. 350 - 450 °C) Pizza rein und nach 15 - 30 Sekunden das erste Mal leicht drehen. Wenn die Runde um ist, ist sie auch schon fertig, dies dauert so ca. 1 - 2 Minuten. Zu beachten ist aber vor der ersten Pizza den Ofen ruhig 12 Minuten ca. bei 500 °C zu halten, damit der Pizzastein auch ordentlich heiß wird, sonst wird der Boden nicht kross. Wenn die erste Pizza raus ist, lege ich kleine Schaufel Pellets nach, jedoch nicht zu viel sonst quiemt es nur. Hier ist einfach ein herantasten gefragt.

      Alles in allem mit ein bisschen wirklich nur bisschen Übung denkbar einfach.

      Kurzfassung:

      Pizza takes maybe 30 seconds to cook fully with a couple of turns at 10 seconds each. Super easy to get pizza in and out and dispense more pellets. I’ll definitely buy a bigger version next time now that I know what I’m doing.

      Bought this after reading all the great reviews. They’re all correct. Well built and arrived quickly. Box was damaged but due to the oven being well packaged no damage to the oven. Heats up super quick especially with the door on the front. The stone reaches 900F no problem. Have used it twice and learned a few things. Roll the dough nice and thin, thick dough tends to burn. Make the pizzas one at a time and get them into the oven as soon as it’s made or it welds itself to the peel, rotate the pizza every 10-15 seconds and it’s done in 60-90 seconds. You can’t walk away, have to stay on top of rotating the pizza. Get a laser thermometer to make sure the stone is super hot and ready. Keep an eye on the pellets they burn quick and once the hopper is empty the oven starts to cool quickly. Overall a lot of fun to use.
