Epoch Design was founded in 1997 with a mission to create high quality, built to last furniture at a great everyday value.

In 2006, our founder's mail was stolen. Locking mailboxes available for sale were either poorly made 'theatre-security' or extremely overpriced!

We engineered a beefy, patented locking system that can stand up against prying attempts. Over the years we have continuously improved our product design to meet our customer's needs.

Stolen mail is a leading cause of identity theft, the fastest growing crime in the nation.

Locking mailboxes help to reduce the risk of ID theft, since criminals steal mail to access personal information. If you have a residential curbside mailbox, you can replace it with a USPS Approved (USPS Engineering 2012) locking mailbox according to USPS specifications. Mail is delivered via an incoming mail slot or bin, and retrieved with a key via a locking access door.

Incoming mail and packages are captured instantly by the upper bin door, which is nearly impossible to pry or fish. Once the door is closed, incoming mail is dropped into the lower secure mail vault. Protected by the Mail Boss patented locking system, featuring a commercial grade anti-drill and anti-pick wafer lock.

Your mail can then only be accessed by using one of your laser cut sidewinder keys via the lower, locking door. Our current generation of lock features over 1000 unique key combinations and there is not a master key for our locking system! The In Ground Steel Mounting Post is made of heavy-duty 10- and 14-gauge galvanized steel with a durable powder-coated finish. Use this 43" in-ground post to mount any Mail Boss locking mailbox. The post will fit over a 4"x4" wood post for deep installations and reinforcement with rebar.
The In Ground Steel Mounting Post by Mail Boss is made of heavy-duty galvanized 10- and 14-gauge galvanized steel with a durable powder-coated finish. Use this 43″ in-ground post to mount any curbside Mail Boss locking mailbox. The In Ground Post should be buried approximately 12″ in ground in order for the incoming mail slot of the Mail Boss mailboxes to be within USPS specifications of 41″-45″ above the road side surface. This post will fit securely over a treated wooden 4″x4″ post for deep installations and reinforcement with rebar stakes.

We were finally victims of mail theft...not surprising as we had a regular mailbox forever and theft is common in our neighborhood. Fortunately they just got junk mail, but it was a sign to finally get a locking box. Good quality and it came quickly and was extremely easy to install. I moved to an old home and their old mailbox doesn't have a lock, and that makes me nervous, so I bought this to replace the old one. This mailbox is heavy, steady and looks to be very durable, it's also pretty safe as I tried to test it by reaching in from the top section and could not grab anything easily. The whole box just feels well made and the liner is also a nice touch so that we don't get ripped by any screws or nails.

The only challenging part for me is to install this. This mailbox has different hole positions compared to the previous mailbox so I have to drill new holes on the post. That's relatively easy to do, but to actually fasten the screws into those holes took me 20+ minutes because you can only turn it a little bit each time using a normal wrench. I wish they could provide a vertical wrench that you can just turn inside the mailbox, that would make the installation so much easier.

But anyways, really solid mailbox and I can simply see it last for a few decades. Would recommend.

This is well made heavy gauge steel. Definitely need concrete or a foam base. I used the foam and it has been absolutely solid. It has seen rain, snow, ice you name it. The lock works as smooth as the day it was installed and the mail is never wet anymore.
We had a mail man who closed the lid in the old mailbox when it was beautiful out and left it open when it was raining. Good ole USPS.
