I've used this product for a few years now and my 3 small dogs do very well with Fera Probiotics. The autoship every 2 months works great for me and I like the powder, as you can better control the amount you give to your animals. If your dog doesn't need as much as recommended (i.e. runny bowels), then you can provide just a little less. I recommned you try this if you have multiple animals or just one.

I have an elderly Shi Tzu and he has been having horrible digestion problems to the point when I was seriously considering putting him down. I tried so many different products, including the most expensive ones, and nothing helped. This miracle thug cured him in less than a week! His stool is back to normal (it used to be super-liquid and bloody, very scary looking) and he has gained some weight. But most importantly, he is acting like a puppy again despite his 13 years of age! I can’t recommend this product enough! It literally brought my baby back to me!

This is the first probiotic I've tried for my cats. I chose this brand over others because it has more pre and probiotic strains with higher counts with similar prices plus this one has no added flavorings or meat proteins in it and it is also veterinarian formulated. Many other brands say they have certain certifications and are vet formulated but they don't have decent information and proof on their websites. Fera's website has more information on the product and the vet who formulated it. The supplement does have a slight but not deterring odor and is tan in color. I'm on my second container and now all six are getting it on their food. Be aware the container is only half full and the company says it's a required and safer size package for processing (they're not the only company that has this response either).

5/6 have no issue with the meat protein and they're the ones that got the entire first container. I saw a difference in their coats within days. It also helped with their bad breath, vomiting, and our old man kitty's body and ear odor. You could tell he was around as soon as he walked in the room until he started getting this on his food! I didn't notice a huge difference in litter odor though.

Now my baby, she has skin issues caused by a possible food allergy, is possibly epileptic (on antiseizure meds twice daily), slight hypercalcemia, and reoccurring urinary issues (probably caused by the stress and hypercalcemia making her more prone to uti and calcium oxalate crystals and stones causing her to be on antibiotics frequently). No diagnosis yet unfortunately. Because of those issues she has to avoid all additives and is on a soy based diet to rule out food allergens but since shes frequently on antibiotics she needs something to help with her gut and overall health and there needs to be no meat protein. I originally purchased it for her but she didnt get any until the second container. She turns her nose up at her food half the time because she can smell it (the others were the same way at first but they ate it when they got hungry enough and have no problem now) but the jury is still out for her. I'll update when shes eating it consistently.

It does come sealed, has a pack inside to keep it from getting hard and clumping, and comes with a scoop. I do keep it in the fridge after opening to prolong the life and for piece of mind even though it's polished off well before the date. The cats seem to eat less now that it's hot and humid (no AC) so I'm not sure how to adjust the feeding schedule. I'm worried the weather is making the probiotic and in turn the kibble spoil. Overall it's expensive with this many cats but it definitely improves their health so I will continue purchasing.

I almost forgot, our black shepherd has been breaking in and eating the cat's food without any vomiting or diarrhea as a result so I though the cats were just being piggies and begging for extra food. Little did I know they were actually hungry because Oolee is a jerk lol! I guess I can say it works for dogs too because he had zero stomach upset with over a cup and a half of cat food multiple times. It took a few times but I figured it out by noticing the cat's dish was licked clean (the last tine the bowl was still wet and bubbly with drool lol). When the probiotic is on their food (I mix it in for even distribution to make sure one cat isn't eating way too much) it leaves a residue on the bowl when the food is gone. I wash their bowl daily to prevent bacteria growth and spoilage.

  • Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2021

If you don’t know what megacolon is, and your cat is super constipated, it’s an often fatal condition that can usually only be cured with surgery if you are not given other alternatives like this. From PetMD: “Megacolon in cats can cause devastating health consequences as the colon fills with old, hardened feces, and the colon is not strong enough to pass the “cemented stool.”

It’s a HORRIBLE condition and extremely painful as a cat is trying to poop hard fecal matter. It also caused our cat senior Chloe to have very oily looking fur which I’d never seen before but is supposedly common with sick cats. We took Chloe to the vet who showed us a disturbing x-Ray showing fecal matter packed in Chloe’s colon that was half as long as her entire body! He then recommend that he keep her overnight and give her an enema, which of course we agreed to. The enema alone almost killed her. She was lethargic for two weeks afterwards and, worst of all, the vet charges were over $400, but the procedure did nothing to help with her constipation!

We did two things ON OUR OWN that made the issue disappear, and they will both be required on an ongoing basis for as long as she’s alive.

    1) We had to do our own research and WE had to ask the same vet to prescribe the ONLY kind of food that a constipated cat should eat - Royal Canin Gastrointestinal DRY cat food. It’s expensive but an 8.8 lb bag lasts a pretty long time with one cat. We give one scoop (3/4 cup) per day along with a tiny bit of wet food in the morning because she’s used to it, but more importantly because it hides the daily probiotics that I need to get into her. But the bulk of her diet is DRY. I would never recommend a strictly dry cat food diet, but this gastrointestinal food is all a cat really needs. It’s that good.

    2) We started using this FERA probiotic powder after trying several other products that either she would not eat or just didn’t work. I wish we started with this one! It’s super fine flavorless powder that I put in a tiny bit of wet cat food each morning. (She eats that first and THEN I give her more.) It comes with a little plastic scoop. I read in one place to give a whole scoop of powder but in another place to give a half scoop, so I started with a half scoop, and it worked so well that I never advanced to the full scoop.

The probiotics didn’t work right at first, but I was persistent, and discovered that the longer I used it, the bigger her poops got. It’s been a good 2.5 months now. Chloe is much more energetic, and her poops are, well, massive. Lol. And her fur is back to normal! She’s healed, and I’m 100% certain that she was on her deathbed before we started administering this. I will never stop buying these probiotics as we are extremely grateful and relieved that we didn’t lose our Chloe.

I hope this helps someone out there! And FYI, I’m very skeptical of reviews because I never know what’s legit or not, but I’m a normal mom/grandma that is retired and living in the Sierra foothills. I rely on Amazon for almost everything short of food, and I’ve made a few regretful purchases along the way. This is not one of them!

My cat has not thrown up since I started him on this product. I took him to the vet for expensive tests, and medicine but he continued to throw up. At first, my very fussy 16 year old cat refused to eat his food with this product in it. So, I started with a pinch, then a quarter scoop & in a couple days a half scoop mixed in his food. Now he eats his food no problem. Plus, he is no longer throwing up. I am not a vet. I just know my cat and this works for him.

Fido doesn't like it and rejects food regularly when this is added. I can't tell if the item works or not.

What I like about this the product made in the USA. The ingredients are listed clearly on the labels. It got GMP. As you can see, the jar has all of the certificate labels. Labels for pet probiotics hardly ever mention this. It's Organic no fillers. It is also good for long-term sensitive pets' health. My cats are sensitive to certain food. I only add it when I feed them canned food. So far I found it helpful for my kitties.
