Better than expected
I broke the illumination dial on the R10’s scope and the Ravin one was out of stock. I had the Burris but didn’t like it because of weight. I researched, asked around, called my local pro shop while trying to figure out what to get and kept coming back to this one. I kept shying away because it didn’t have a speed lock for the FPS. All the local places and Vortex website this was $279+ so it being $100 cheaper here was another bonus. This is the first Vortex optic I’ve ever owned but know their reputation. The clarity of the glass on this scope is leaps and bounds better than the Ravin one I had. Initially I was lukewarm on the reticle but have really started to like it. Comes with rings and dust caps and a bag. Took me about 40 minutes to zero it. I dialed it in at 6 yards at the 40 yard reticle then moved back to 40 and had to make some elevation and windage adjustments but was shooting nice groups. Moved up to 20 yards to verify and it was dead on. I used a silver sharpie to mark my FPS setting. It’s really a nice optic. Quality construction, doesn’t feel cheap or loose. I definitely recommend it.

As of this date, it appears that I got the last one. I have slowly changed over my Binos (3 pairs), Riflescopes (2), and finally my Crossbow scope over to Vortex. Only my Bushnell rangefinder is a non-Vortex optic. OVERALL, this is worth the $200 IMO. As we all know you (mostly) get what you pay for. I paid $800 for my TenPoint Crossbow. So I had to wait a season to upgrade the optics.
    .
This scope, like all of my other Vortex optics, reeks of quality. These optics are consistently clear and sharp from dawn to dusk—while hunting, or at the beach. On this scope, the dials move easily--but keep enough friction to keep them in place. Even with these old eyes and glasses, I was able to adjust the diopter ring to get a crisp/sharp Green and Red reticle. The included rings / base worked flawlessly. (BTW Torque is 30 in/lbs and the rings require 18 in/lbs of torque. I have crushed a scope tube in my younger days--get a Wheeler torque wrench for your scope mounting.!)
    .
ISSUES. 1) The instructions for sighting in specify for sighting in at any distance OTHER THAN 40 yards are minimal—for adjusting the Magnification/Speed ring (a single ring which shows both magnification and the corresponding speed). After a simple statement, there is NO Dialogue explaining if you can then use the magnification ring and/or if the Reticle Subtensions remain accurate for future usese--since it wasn't ranged at 40 yards!? I have access to only a 30 yard range for practice.
    .
    2) The SPEEDs indicated on the dial are widely spaced and NOT COMMON crossbow speeds. SO, an attempt to guess where to place the dial for 350fps arrows is a wild guess. NOW, to be honest, the change is probably not too significant in the scheme of arrow grouping, but for $200 I expect crystal clear instructions and the ability to directly dial in my arrow speed without any guesswork.
    .
The scope sits exactly 2 3/4 inches above the bore (arrow center) so the Arrow Flight Calculation for my Bow/Arrow weight is excellent (350 fps). Since I have so little rise/fall out to 40 yards, I decided to simply sight it in for Crosshairs “ON CENTER” at 40 Yards, and the flight is under 5" all the way to 40 yards. (IN MY CASE, the arrow needs to hit exactly 4.0” high at 30 yards and I’m set. This leaves me Easy calculations--on the fly--for hunting big game. I don't shoot beyond 40 yards.
    .
I painted CAMO on the scope and it looks good too. NOTE: I had to add a strip of Double-Sided tape to both the front and rear of the scope to Keep the Covers on tightly. They are spring loaded, and work great. HOWEVER, the will slide around and I don't want to lose one.
    .
You can see the SPEED dial in the Photo. On the BACK of the Speed dial is the CORRESPONDING Magnification. For example, my arrows with tip (425g) shoot right at 350 fps. So, when "350" is (estimated) used, the Magnification is at 3.4. What an ODD combo! But, it works great. . .

I am a Vortex user and have them on all my firearms…. So when I wanted to upgrade the cheap scope that came on my crossbow, Vortex was my first look. I’ve never been disappointed with Vortex and they give you a lot of quality for a reasonable price. It is crystal clear, with good eye relief, it holds zero, and accuracy is what it should be. I love my Vortex optics

The speed selection is spot on. I mounted scope on a 430 centerpoint. Not a high dollar crossbow but it’s accurate out to 100 yds. Yeah, every pin is on out to 100 yds! Rock solid. Stays locked on thru bumps. Illuminated crosshair. I mean you just can’t beat it and Amazon has a cheaper price than Vortex even if you get 40% off like I do from Vortex! Buy with confidence!

Its a vortex, so the quality is there making it worth the buy, but vortex, along with everyone else it seems these days, tries to market too much in their scope reticles. i want a crosshair with a single illumination dot in the middle. this thing has yardage markings from 20-100; how many people plan on shooting out to 100 yards? plus it has 5 and 10 MOA windage marks....on a crossbow scope. when illumination is turned on, all yardage and windage markings light up too, and illumination settings, while adjustable, are way too bright. it says 'illumination for low light shooting' but the most dim it will go is as bright as you could possibly want in low light, and high intensity is blinding. high intensity should be what the lowest setting is and go dimmer from there. makes ya wonder if anyone ever field tested this stuff before selling. i have a Leupold "illuminated reticle" scope that just has a single dot on the crosshairs and that's perfect. illumination in this thing is way too much and bright to make it a great low light scope, but cluttered and illumination reticle aspects aside, its a nice scope. turrets are nice and clarity is great. i just wished scope makers would keep reticles more simple instead of trying to market how much stuff they can pack into a reticle. tons of impressive features dont always make something better.

Best value for the quality and "Unconditional" Lifetime Guarantee. The Warranty is good according toa couple folks I know. Only downside is the 50mm objective lens in threaded, but Vortex (nor anyone else) make a threaded sunshade for it. Monster makes an inecpensive, flexible 4 incch universal sunshade that works. Scope is as good as optics that cost 3x as much.
