My husband and I travel a lot and we purchase a magnet for every new destination. We have a stainless fridge and the magnets were damaging the fridge. We found this product and decided to create a large frame art.Over all the magnets stick pretty well to the paint so far. We only had 3 which were super heavy that would not stick.Only thing to be conscious of is the paint is SUPER thick, let it dry over night between coats and buy your own paint roller. The one in the package is terrible.

I am pleasantly surprised at how well the product holds the magnets. I was afraid it would not work due to all the various negative reviews that I read. I used three coats and stirred very thoroughly before the first coat and again between each additional coat. 1 can was exactly enough for 3 coats on a 48" x 66" area.

We still plan on putting a top coat of Blackboard paint over it so I don't know how strong the magnetism is under 2 coats of that. It washed off my hands very easily (after I recorded the video). It's a grainy matte finish to the touch, so I don't think it would do very well getting wet. It looks good and behaves well so far but, because of the matte finish, I wouldn't recommend leaving it as is.

I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews, but this magnetic paint was perfect for my project. Indeed it was splattery, hard to work with, and required several coats to ensure it was going to be as magnetic as I wanted it to be after I topcoated it with chalkboard paint, but in the end, it came out great.

I do not suggest trying to paint a whole wall with this paint or you will go crazy. My project was a 5'x2' cabinet door that I was able to remove and lay flat for the entire project (recommended if possible for your project). The paint is very thick and does not apply well at temps below 60 degrees. I also recommend a few coats with a brush, followed by a very light sanding between each, and the final coats made with a foam brush to make them as smooth as possible. The foam brushes they send with the paint are quite small, so depending on the size of your project, you may want to pick up some wider ones.

This project took some time and patience, but I think in the end it came out great. As you can see from the photo, even with two coats of chalkboard paint, the magnetic aspect holds up great. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to make add magnetization to a small area, but would hesitate to recommend it for projects larger than 5'x5'.

Yes there is splatter but that’s really a no-brainer if you cover the work area very well. What matters is if the painting was stress-free? Check. Does it work well without using special products? Check. Does it look good even without painting over it? Check.
My magnetic wall looks great, and also easily uses my Ikea storage magnets. Total win!

The can was enough for the project we did but I wasn’t crazy about this brand. Our walls are nice and smooth but the paint went on a little clumpy. We used the sponge brush they suggested and it completely fell apart after the second use (you need to wait 24 hrs for the first coat to dry).

The paint didn’t have a strong smell so that was a plus. It’s a very thick paint so it doesn’t glide on. You have to push it along.

We also noticed that once complete, the magnetic force isn’t too strong. We used magnet stripes and we had to hold them down for a minute before they held. I guess we were thinking it would be as strong as fridge magnets but it’s not.

I actually applied this to a wall, 2’ by 10’ area to hang small posters up in my classroom. It was very messy and time consuming to use the small foam brush that came with the kit. I got the same smooth application result by using a foam roller instead. Went on so much quicker, easier to control and got a nice, thick coating without all the mess!
